Clarbeston Road

MR Stephen Peter Griffiths of Walton East, Clarbeston Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday September 2, aged 58.

Stephen lost his mother at a young age and he and his brother John were brought up by their grandfather Jack Rice, where they lived in Market Street, Haverfordwest.

When Stephen left secondary school, he joined Ted Davies Builders in Cardigan Road to be an apprentice carpenter.

Stephen always loved making things with wood and he then became a fine tradesman for many years.

Stephen then met Dawn, moved to London, where they then got married in 2006. Stephen then became a premises manager of two secondary schools in Enfield. After 12 years, they moved back to Haverfordwest due to Stephen’s ill health. They lived a happy married life. Stephen loved and worshipped his daughter Jodie, along with his dogs, bird and fish.

The principle mourners left were Dawn (wife); Jodie and Nathan (daughter and son-in-law); Katrina and Johnny (stepdaughter and step son-in-law); Sian, Owen and Aled (grandchildren); John and Sue (brother and sister-in-law); Jamie and Alyson (brother and sister-inlaw); Simon (brother); Louise (niece); Aunt Paddy (auntie); Diane and Jimmy (sister and brother-in-law); Gwen (mother-in-law); Ann (sisterin- law); Gina (sister-in-law); Nadine, Lee, Sophie, Andrew, Sarah, Danielle, Rachel, Lorraine and Phil Harries (cousins) plus many more nieces and nephews to numerous to mention.

Family unable to attend the service was Mark and Sue (brother and sister-in-law); Elizabeth (sister-in-law) and Jason (nephew).

A large service on September 11 was officiated by Canon Geoffrey Gwyther, followed by a small service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.

The bearers were David Smith (brother-in-law); Glan Studdley (friend); Gary Morrisey (friend); Kenny Thomas (friend); David James (friend); John Price (friend).

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for Pembrokeshire Heart Foundation c/o Jimmy Cole, 2 College Park, Neyland SA73 1TX.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Stephen’s best friend Mr Glyn Thomas and son, assisted by Mrs Susan Price and grandson Gareth Thomas, of Freystrop.

 

Miss J R Roach

Hakin

Friends and family travelled from all over Wales, England and Denmark to attend the funeral of Miss Julie Rose Roach age 42 years of St Annes Place Hakin, on September 16.

Julie lived in Milford until the she joined the Army, serving 10 years with the Q.A.R.A.N.C, serving both in the UK and overseas. After leaving the Army, Julie joined the Gloucestershire Police Force until an accident forced her retirement.

Julie then moved back to Milford.

Julie was predeceased by her mother Rose in 1999.

The family left to mourn and principle mourners are, her loving father George, sisters Trudy, Diane and Sandra and brother Dean. Julie also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family unable to attend, Sandra (sister) Denmark, Nikoli (nephew) Denmark and Camilla (niece) Australia. Aunties, uncles and cousins from Suffolk.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.

 

Mrs Muriel James

(formerly of Pembroke)

THE death occurred of Mrs Muriel James at Hollyland Lodge Residential Home on August 30th. Formerly of Wogan Road, Pembroke, she was 91.

Her working life consisted of being a cook at the Riverside Hospital between 1940 to 1950 and then a part time school dinner lady at Bush School, Pembroke between 1971 and 1983.

Her interests included walking, visiting parks and gardens, travel including visits to relatives at home and abroad, old time dancing, and listening to music.

Her other interests included voluntary work for the senior citizens, the welfare committee in Pembroke, Tenovus charity shop, Main Street, Pembroke; and she was also a member of the Pembroke branch of WI in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

She was predeceased by her husband Harry James.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Brian and Allan James (sons); Susan and David Clinch (daughter and sonin- law); Imelda Shelley and Julian Weeks; Susan and Freddy Broomhead.

Unable to attend were Birute James (daughter-inlaw); Mischi, Trischa, Bob, Randy, Aaron and Amber (family in Colorado); Margaret Orchard, Elizabeth and Gordon Barrett, Elly and John Craig.

The service was held at St Mary’s Church, Pembroke followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. It was officiated by Canon Roger Jones.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by E C Thomas Son, of Llanteg.

 

Mrs D Deaville

(formerly of Hook and Waterston)

MRS Diane Deaville (nee Thomas) formerly of Hook and Waterston passed away peacefully on September 3 at home in Spain where she has lived for the past 29 years.

She leaves to mourn her husband Frank; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Francesca; grandchildren Elena and Cesat, also Ruth and Richard, Jayne and Peter; sisters and brothers-inlaw Adrian, Alison and Annabel (nephew and nieces).

Diane was predeceased by her sister Mary four years ago.

 

Mr R Lloyd

Hakin

MR Raymond Lloyd of Picton Road, Hakin, Milford Haven died peacefully at home on August 30.

He was 84.

Originally from Liverpool he worked for the Port Health Authority, where he retired from in 1994.

He served in the Navy during National Service.

His interests included family and gardening.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Edith Marion Lloyd (wife); Terry and Ann (son and daughter-in-law); Linda (daughter); Carol and David (daughter and son-in-law); Sarah, Mark, Steven and Rachel (grandchildren); Paul, Lee, Kelly and Dylan (great grandchildren).

The service was held at St Davids Church, Hubberston followed by internment at Milford Haven Cemetery and was officiated by Rev Bill Lewis.

The bearers were Mark Powney, Steven Thomas, David Mayled (son-in-law) and Kevin Jenkins (nephew).

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to Paul Sartori Foundation, 31 Haven Road, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, Milford Haven

 

Mr A D Revell

Havefordwest

THE death occurred peacefully with his family at home in Jury Lane, Haverfordwest of Mr Alan Denis Revell on August 9th. He was 80.

Originally from Cambridgeshire, he was a fireman in the RAF, and was posted to RAF Folly at Roch in 1953.

He remained there until 1956 when he left the RAF. He then worked as a driver at Brawdy and also Regent Refinery. Before retirement he worked for Wincanton Transport for 34 years, formerly as a driver and then as a foreman until 1996.

He loved holidays and with his wife Prue, they had many both in this country and abroad until his health deteriorated.

He also loved horse racing, but his main love and interests were his family and home.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Prue (wife for over 55 years); Lynda and Roy Beardsmore, Julie and David Billingsley, Tracy and Gareth Evans (daughters and sons-in-law); Kate, Lucy and Anna, Claire and Mark (granddaughter and husband); Zoe and Tim (granddaughter and partner); Nathan and Verity (grandson and wife); Laura (granddaughter); Patsy and David (sister and brother-inlaw); Derek Thomas (brother- in-law); Nancy Harries (sister-in-law) plus ten great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

The service was held at Prendergast, St Davids Church followed by interment at City Road Cemetery and was officiated by Canon Geoffrey Gwyther.

The bearers were Roy Beardsmore, David Billingsley, Gareth Evans (sons-inlaw); Nathan Evans (grandson); Mark Davies, Michael Kimpson (nephews).

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Glyn Thomas and Son of Freystrop.

 

Mr C Bowen

Kilgetty

THE death occurred peacefully at his home August 25 of Cyril Bowen of Menai House, Kilgetty.

A native of Llanboidy, Whitland, Cyril attended Llanboidy Primary school and Whitland Grammar School before continuing his education at Pibwr Lwyd College in Carmarthen.

He then completed his Higher National Diploma in Agriculture at Seale Hayne Agricultural College in Devon, and then returned home to the family farm in Blaencediw.

In 1963 Cyril and Mair were married at Ty Mawr Chapel, Capel Coch, Anglesey, settling in Kilgetty, where Cyril embarked on a new career as a haulage contractor.

In the ensuing years the family grew with the birth of David and Robert.

Cyril was a loyal members of the National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club for many years. He was also a committed member of 2011 Narberth Masonic Lodge.

The principal mourners were wife Mair; sons David and Robert; daughters-in-law Tracy and Shelley; grandchildren Daniel, Sam, Emily and Jack.

The funeral service was held at St John’s Church, Templeton, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.

The service was officiated by Rev Peter Lewis, Rev Graham Lloyd, Rev Michael Rowlands, Canon Bryan Witt, Rev Robin Webley and Lay Reader Miss Judith Francis.

The organist was Mrs Norma Lewis, a close family friend.

The bearers were David, Robert, Daniel and Sam.

There were family flowers only with donations if desired to St John’s Church c/o Mrs Ruth Price, 1 Myrtle Villa, Templeton, Narberth SA67 8RZ.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by E C Thomas and Son of Llanteg.
