Mrs P N Coaker

Pembroke

THE death occurred on September 14 at Ashdale Care Home of Mrs Phyllis Nancy Coaker, formerly of St Nicholas Crescent, The Green, Pembroke. She was 89.

She was the third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Jack Davies of Ropewalk Terrace, Pembroke.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter Coaker formerly of Milford Haven.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Pauline Wells (sister); Nancy Davies (sister-in-law); Barrie, Sandra and family; Kenneth and family; Pauline, David and family; Fay and family; Graham, Jenny and family; Stephen, Claire and family; Cheryl plus cousins, friends and neighbours.

The service was held at St Marys Church, Pembroke followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Canon Roger Jones.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for Ashdale Nursing Home c/o E C Thomas and Son Funeral Directors, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

 

Mrs M Richards

Llanreath

MRS Muriel Richards, of Chapel Road, Llanreath, Pembroke Dock, passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on October 23 aged 84.

She was born in Barry, Glamorgan and married to the late Billy Richards.

In her earlier years Muriel trained as a nurse before becoming a devoted mother, she then worked in the kitchens at Bush school and also at Pennar Junior School until her retirement at 60 years of age.

She and her husband spent all their retirement sailing their boat around the Mediterranean, after their boating days had finished they settled in Spain and also Pembroke Dock. She was a much loved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.

The principal mourners are Angela and Richard (daughter and son-in-law); Howard and Yvonne (son and daughter-in-law); Janice and Martin (daughter and son-in-law), she had eight grandchildren Lee, Zoe, Kyle, Tom, Marie, Hayley, Robert and Lisa and also thirteen great-grandchildren, she also leaves behind her sister, Mrs Maureen Thomas, her sisterin- law Mrs Florence Branton, and also a brother-in-law Mr Henry Richards.

The funeral took place on November 4 at Lamphey Church with a large number of family and friends in attendance. The bearers were Lee and Kyle Bittle, Robert Richards and Tom Morris.

Mrs A F Raymond

Tavernspite

A SERVICE to celebrate the life of Avril Frances Raymond, of Tavernspite, was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on October 31. Avril was 82, being the beloved wife of the late David John Raymond.

Avril was the youngest daughter of the late William and Edith James, of South caravan farm, Tavernspite.

She lived all her life in Tavernspite, marrying the late David John in 1951 where they continued to farm until they moved across the road into the bungalow they built together in 1964.

She held the position of village school caretaker for 37 years. Retiring in 1990, she also drove a taxi to take children to and from school for many years.

A popular villager she enjoyed many hobbies including WI, whist, darts, sewing, and jalopy racing with David. She won many whist and jalopy racing prizes including the Pembrokeshire Colby Cup 1991. She was an eager participant in the Tavernspite Best Kept Village, Wales in Bloom and UK village competition always ensuring her front garden was immaculately prepared ready for competitions.

The principal mourners were Sandra and Ian Eynon (daughter and son-in-law); Philip and Ali (grandson and partner); Rhys (grandson) plus numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and their families, and a large number of friends testified to her popularity in the community.

Unable to attend was devoted sister-in-law Elinor Hammer.

The service was officiated by Reverend Huw George and the bearers were Peter Cook (nephew), Doug Terry, Keith Court and Geoff Brown.

There were family flowers only with donations in Avril’s memory to Ward 8, Withybush Hospital and Macmillan’s nurses being kindly received by Ken Davies, Blaenwern, Clunderwen SA66 7NWQ.

 

Mrs J Thomas

Haverfordwest

Mrs Joan Thomas (nee Nicholas) passed away very peacefully at home on November 3 aged 86.

She was born in North Gate, Haverfordwest, the only child of John Nicholas a baker and Hilda Nicholas.

Joan trained as a hair dresser and remained a native of Haverfordwest.

She married Dennis Thomas in 1948 and they remained dedicated to each other for 65 years.

She dedicated her life to family and was a loving mum to twins Paul and Julie, Nan and great Nan.

She suffered ill health for a long period of time but bore it with courage and selflessness.

The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on November 11 and it was officiated by canon Geoffrey Gwyther.

The principal mourners were Dennis (husband); Paul and Julie(twins); Wayne (son-in-law); Trish (daughterin- law); Claire, Katy and Nina (granddaughters); Luke and Paul (grandsons); Gethin, Iestyn and Evan (great grandsons); Isla (great granddaughter); Kate Louis (wife of Paul Wynne); Steve (husband of Nina); Claire (wife of Luke).

The bearers were Wynne Evans, Paul Wynne, Luke and Martin Shobbook (friend).

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr R Folland of Haverfordwest with care and dignity.

 

Mrs S J Jenkins

St Davids

Mrs Sally Jenkins passed away peacefully at Withybush Hospital on November 4 at the age of 88.

The funeral took place on November 12 at St Davids Cathedral followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. The service was officiated by the Rev Canon Dorrien Davies assisted by the very Rev Jonathon Lean and The Rev Michael Rowlands.

The bearers were Mair Davies, Geraint Davies, Gordon Jenkins, Anthony Longstaff, Nigel Williams and Leigh Williams.

The family left to mourn are Gillian and Graham (daughter and son-in-law); Nigel and Leigh (grandsons); Eira and Alan (sister-in-law and brother-in-law), also nephews, nieces and cousins too numerous to mention together with many friends.
