Formerly of Pembroke Dock

MRS Dorothy Marguerite Roberts, who was a resident at Fairfield Care Home, Johnston passed away in Withybush Hospital on February 14. She was 94. Originally from Bufferland, Pembroke Dock she worked in domestic services, then a housewife and mother. Her main interests were her family and reading.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners were George and Marie, Christopher and Angela, Billy and Trish, Ann, Patricia, Peter, Paul and Jan, Jean and Clive, David and Linda, Fiona (children, partners and in-laws) plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

The funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and it was officiated by Rev Paul Nash. The bearers were from E C Thomas and Son, Llanteg who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for The Royal Artillery Charitable Fund and Cancer Research (local) which may be sent to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock SA72 6UR.

 

Mr R A Wade

Haverfordwest

THE death occurred at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest on December 27 of Richard Albert Wade, of Fishguard Road, Haverfordwest.

He was 74 years old and was predeceased by his wife Mair eleven weeks previously last October. Richard was the youngest of four brothers of parents William and Ellen Wade of Elliots Hill Farm, Crowhill, Haverfordwest.

After leaving school he started work at J and G Bland Motors Ltd in Haverfordwest where he was for many years the parts manager. He retired in 2004 after 50 years service.

Two years ago Richard had a new lease of life after the birth of his first grandchild Tommy and was looking forward to seeing his second grandson due this April.

He leaves to mourn his two sons Gerwyn and Barry along with other relatives, friends and neighbours.

The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on January 7 and was officiated by Rev Geoffrey Eynon.

The principal mourners were Gerwyn and Fiona Wade (son and daughter-in-law); Barry Wade and Chloe (son and partner); Doreen Wade and Ceinwen Rees (sister-in-law and niece).

Donations for Cancer Research UK in lieu of flowers c/o Gerwyn Wade, Llys yr Awel, Penffordd, Clunderwen SA66 7HY. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

 

Mr B Williams

Pembroke

A LARGE funeral was held for Mr Brian Williams, of Ashdale Lane, Pembroke, who died suddenly on December 20.

He came to Pembroke with Pembrokeshire Police in 1960 and was stationed in Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Saundersfoot.

In Pembroke he met his wife Diana and they married in 1963. They went on to have daughter Alison and four grandsons Mark, Martin, David and Jason. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to Lilly and Tilly Rose.

His interests included fishing, walking, reading, gardening and his grandsons.

The funeral took place on January 11 at St Davids Church, Hundleton followed by interment at Hundleton Cemetery and was officiated by Vicar Geoffrey Howell.

There were tributes including memories of Brian given by grandson Martin, a reading by Keith Wheeler (close friend). The bearers were Mark, Martin, David and Jason (grandsons); close friends Douglas Albany and Newton Thomas.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Diana (wife); Alison and Martin (daughter and husband); Mark and Marie (grandson and wife); Martin and Elle (grandson and partner); David and Vicki (grandson and wife); Jason and Jess (grandson and partner); Lilly and Tilly Rose (great- granddaughters); David Beynon (nephew); Beverley and Tony Cameron (niece and husband).

Unable to attend were Keith and Reb Beynon (brotherin- law and wife, Plymouth); Warren and Sophie Beynon (nephew and wife, Plymouth); Mrs Barbara Beynon (sister-in-law, Manchester); Mrs Kate Beynon, (niece, Manchester).

Donations in Brian’s memory for the Salvation Army and Guide Dogs for the Blind are c/o John Roberts and Son, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

 

Mrs P M Parsons

Pembroke Dock

MRS Patricia Mary Parsons (known as Patty) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 1 at Withybush Hospital. She was 65 and was cared for with great compassion and dignity by the wonderful staff of Ward 10 and CDU. Patty fought her illness with courage, determination and positivity.

Her bubbly personality and beautiful smile were infectious.

Patty was born at The Old Bakery, Milton, Carew, along with sister Diane, Tony and John. She was educated at Sageston Primary and Greenhill School. On leaving school she worked at Lloyds Bank in Pembroke alongside her sister Diane. During this time she met and married her husband David (Dai) Parsons.

They settled in Market Street, Pembroke Dock and she left the bank to bring up her two sons Andrew and Mark. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Sadly she was predeceased by Dai in July 2011 but took great comfort in the love and support she received and had many precious memories of their 43 years of marriage.

Patty enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a love for gardening and shopping.

The family left to mourn are Andrew and Mark (sons); Amanda and Becky (daughters-in-law); Aaron, Hunter and Michaela (grandchildren); Jayden (greatgrandson); Diane and Russell Morgan (sister and brotherin- law); John Matson (brother); Tony Mattson and Fiona (brother and partner); Neil and Simon Morgan (nephews and families); Enid, Gwyn and Gareth (cousins), plus many family, friends and neighbours.

The funeral on February 10 was held at St Teilo’s Church, Pembroke Dock followed by interment at Llanion cemetery and was officiated by Rev Shirley Rayner. The bearers were Andrew Parsons (son); Aaron Parsons (grandson); Neil and Simon Morgan (nephews). There were family flowers only with donations in memory of Patty going to CDU, Ward 10 Withybush Hospital c/o E C Thomas and Son, Funeral Directors, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth SA67 8QH who carried out the funeral arrangements.

 

Mr D Napier

Milford Haven

THE death occurred on February 9 of Mr Dennis Napier, of Lundy Close, Milford Haven. He was 88. Dennis was brought up in Waterloo Road, Milford Haven with his brother and two sisters.

He was a keen gardener and loved attending local dances when he was young. He worked for several years as a boilermaker on Milford docks before moving to Newport to work at Llanwern Steelworks. He returned to Milford on his retirement and was a keen walker. He spent the last 30 years living in Westhill where he had very good neighbours.

A service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on February 18. Unable to attend were Blenda Napier (sister from London) and cousins Margaret Davies, Cicely Miller, Phyllis John, Alma Hayden, Doris South, Beryl Bain and Anne Deveney from Boston, Mass.

The principal mourners were Gill and Trevor Thomas, Marjorie and Robert McDonald, David and Mary Bowker, John Napier, Joan Davies, Philip and Jackie Davies, Elinor Davies and Rhiannon Picton, Peter and Liliana Evans and other neighbours and friends.

The service was officiated by Canon John Davies and funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Son Ltd, Milford Haven.

Donations to Macmillan Cancer Care in lieu of flowers c/o Barclays Bank, Milford Haven.

 

Mrs P M Brookes

Pembroke Dock

MRS Patricia Mary Brookes, of Park Street, Pembroke Dock passed away at her home on February 14. She was 82. Originally from Walsall, Staffordshire she was a head mistress of a school in Walsall. Pat loved being busy knitting for other people.

She was a member of the Encompass Group and she also went to St Johns for Tuesday Lunch Club. She also attended Bethel Church for Wednesday Lunch. She supported Bethany Chapel and she enjoyed going to St Teilo’s Church where she was a faithful member. She was predeceased by her husband Mr David Brookes 25 years ago.

The principal mourners left to mourn are her very good friends who were her family for the last 15 years Chris and Glyn Wilcox, Martyn Wilcox, Amanda, Steve, Sammy and Adam, Jodie and Kaleb, James, Sheila, Ryan, Marcus, Jill and David Davies, Rosemary, Beth-Ann and Lewis Davies, Mitzi and Peter and Kara.

The funeral service was held at St Teilo’s Church and was officiated by Rev Thelma Williams and Marina Evans who were also close friends also Rev Nicky Skipworth.

The bearers were Rod Jones, Hugh Morgan, Martyn Wilcox and Graham Parcell.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by E C Thomas and Son, Pembroke Dock.

 

Mr I George

Formerly of Pembroke Dock

MR Ivor George passed away on January 29 at Ashdale Nursing Home at the age of 89. He was formerly of Brewery Street, Pembroke Dock.

Ivor was called up to join the navy at the start of the Second World War and served as a stoker on HMS Tartar and HMS Manxman. After leaving the navy, Ivor spent much of his life working at sea.

Ivor last worked as a rigger at R S Hayes in the dockyard.

Ivor enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid fan of horse racing. He was predeceased by his wife Esther and daughter Rose.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Susan and Bob Kelly (daughter and son-in-law); Stephen and Sharon George (son and daughter-in-law); Rodney and Vivian George (son and daughter-in-law); Michaela and Andrew (granddaughter and husband); Marcus and Sarah (grandson and partner); Joanne and Michael (granddaughter and partner); Michael (grandson); Samantha and John (granddaughter and husband); Rebecca, Matthew, Rhian, David, Kelly, Carly, Josh, Isaac, Adam, Liam, Callum, Isabella (great-grandchildren); Mark and Joanne (grandson, partner and children) plus great-grandchildren; Tiny (sister); Greta and Brian (sister and brother-in-law); The service was held at St Johns Church followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. It was officiated by Rev Nicky Shipworth and the bearers were Michael George (grandson); John Cressey (granddaughters husband); Mark Peacock (grandson); David Davies (great-grandson); Michael Herbert (granddaughter’s partner); Matthew Ingram (great-grandson).
