Pembroke Dock

THE death occurred on February 19 of Mrs Enid Marilyn Jordan of Arthur Street, Pembroke Dock. She would have been 70 on October 22.

She was the only child of the late Mr and Mrs Clifford Kinton, who for many years owned the ladies and childrens outfitters shops in Dimond Street and later in Bush Street. On leaving Pembroke Grammar School in 1960, she joined her father in the family business until his retirement in the 1980s.

In 1971 she married Howard Jordan of Maidenwells but was widowed following his death in 2003.

Enid was popular and well known in the town and surrounding district, above all for her lively personality and her love of animals. She owned a succession of German Shepherd dogs, her back garden was turned into a gigantic fish pond, and her two cats, Fudge and Cuddles were her constant companions until her final illness.

During the 1960s she had been an active member of the youth club associated with Wesley Church, Meyrick Street.

She was also an avid photographer, for many years filming the annual Christmas toy service in Trinity Church. Her public spiritedness was in evidence as together with her husband she served as a Special Constable in the local police force for a period in the 1970s.

The funeral service took place at Zion Free Church Pembroke Dock, on March 12, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. The services were officiated by Rev Hugh Michael, and a tribute was given by Denis Payne, a close family friend.

Other immediate mourners included Eric, Gwyneth, Helen and Astrid Bowen and Joyce Brown. The bearers were Helen Bowen, Dr John O’Connor, Mike Kelly and Nissem Zroud.

Mrs H E I Beynon

Cresselly

MRS Hannah Emily Irene (Rene) Beynon of Cresselly, Kilgetty, passed away on September 3 at Withybush Hospital.

She was 91.

Originally from Cresselly she was brought up on a farm (Market Gate) and the wife of farmer late William (Billy B) of Londonerry Farm. After the death of Billy B, she ceased farming and moved with her teenage son Philip to a house in the village, she then commenced work as a caretaker of Jeffreyston V C School until her retirement.

Before her health deteriorated she loved her garden and kept chickens and ducks, she also continued her farm duties and loved feathering poultry for family and friends. Her family were of paramount importance to her and she thrived on having them around her, no-one ever left without having had a treat of homemade welsh cakes, sponges, or her infamous chips. She was a loyal member of Jeffreyston Church.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Philip Beynon (son); Anne (daughter-in-law); Tim, Josh and Tom (grandsons), numerous cousins and relatives, close members of family and lifelong friends, too numerous to mention individually.

The service was held at St Jeffrey and St Oswald Church, Jeffreyston and was officiated by Rev David Faulkner and Father Paul.

The bearers were Gerald Hughes, Glyn Hughes, Ian James and Darryl James.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by E C Thomas and son, of Llanteg.

 

Mrs A L Hart

Broad Haven

MRS Ann Lynn Hart of 27a Millmoor Way, Broad Haven, passed away peacefully after a long illness in September 16, at her parents home, in St Peters Road, Milford Haven.

Ann was educated at Hubberston School and the later at Milford Haven Central where she became Head Girl. She went on to Ammanford College, where she qualified as a Nursery Nurse. Ann then went on to work at North Road Baptist Church School, and St Ishmaels School and later Hakin Junior School.

For many years following, Ann looked after many of the local children in Broad Haven.

Ann had many interests from amateur dramatics to young farmers as a youngster, and gardening and walking in later life. Her main love in life was her family, who have always been her greatest joy. Despite Ann’s illness she always had a vigour for life and a smile on her face. Ann faced her many illnesses with a great courage and dignity right up until the end of her life.

The family left to mourn are John (husband), Laura and Daniel (daughter and son in law), Oscar and Max (grandsons), Bill and Joan (mum and dad), Helen (sister), Michael (brother in law), Anna, Rebecca and families (nieces), Tony and Shirley (aunt and uncle), Ros (mother in law), Mary, Terry and Sarah (sister in law and family) and other family members.

The bearers were Michael Smith, Joel Hardaker, Matthew Barrett, and John Robertson.

The service took place at All Saints Church, Walton West, and was officiated by Father Andrew Johnson, and Dr Rev Rhiannon Johnson, on September 22, followed by burial at Milford Haven Cemetery.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd.

There were family flowers only, and donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Mr John Broughton of 29 Holbrook Road, Broad Haven, Haverfordwest, SA62 3HZ.

Donations will be made to the Paul Satori Foundation and the Cancer Day Unit Appeal.

 

Mrs G M Weatherall

Formerly of Pembroke Dock

THE death occurred peacefully at Apley Lodge residential home of Mrs Gwendoline May Weatherall, known as Gwen on September 22.

She was 93 years old and was very much loved by all of her family.

Gwen was the youngest of four daughters to Frank and Eva Nicholas and was born in 1921 at Nelson Street, Pennar, where she was raised alongside Iris, Elsie and Lily, all of whom passed away some years ago.

She married her husband, Ronald Weatherall in 1940 and they lived at Hill Street for some years before moving to St Patrick’s Road, Pembroke Dock, and they had three children, Marian, Janice and Paul.

In her younger years, Gwen worked for Buffer James and also helped her husband Ron who had initiated the 5th Pembroke Dock Scouts group, often cooking on camping trips.

Gwen was predeceased by Ron in January 1983 and her daughter Marian in 2011, two sons-in-law Doug (Marian’s husband) in 2009 and Norwyn (Janice’s husband) in 1997.

Along with her daughter Mrs Janice Owen, son and wife Mr Paul and Sandra Weatherall, Gwen also leaves 11 grandchildren, Jayne and husband Andrew, Simon and wife Janet, Justin and wife Karen, Martin and wife Lynda, helen and husband Neil, Gareth and wife Joanne, Christopher and partner Michelle, Marcus and partner Laura, Becky and partner Callum, Vicky and Lorna.

Also left to mourn are 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

The service of celebration for Gwen’s life was officiated by Rev Nicky Skipworth and Rev Caroline Mansell and was held at St John’s Church, Pembroke Dock on September 30. The eulogy was read by Rev Nicky and prayers by Rev Caroline, and a lovely poem was read by family friend and chorister Mrs Joan Lathe, and following internment at Llanion cemetery, refreshments were provided back at the church by members of St John’s choir and congregation and this was greatly appreciated by the family.

The bearers were four of Gwen’s grandsons Carl Morgan, Darren Owen, Christopher Austin and Thomas Austin.

There were immediate family flowers only but donations in lieu of flowers if desired to Apley Lodge and St John’s Church, Pembroke Dock may be sent to Mr G Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock.

The funeral arrangements were conducted by E C Thomas and Son, of Pembroke Dock.

 

Mr A H D Lewis

Stepaside

THE death occurred at Morriston Hospital, Swansea on September 25 of Mr Alwyn Henry David Lewis of Sunny Bank Farm, Summerhill, Stepaside.

Originally from Marros, Pendine he farmed all his working life, farming Sunny Bank Farm in Summerhill for the past 50 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, country and western music, holidays and trips away.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Mary Lewis (wife of 60 years); Valerie, Susan, Vincent, Melanie (daughter and son-in-law); John, Christine, Keith, Helen, Steven, Louise, Mark, Martyn, Alison (sons and daughters-in-law); Richard and John (children’s partners); Ian, Rachel, Peter, Sara, David, Tracey, Philip, Lois, Richard, Lori, Robert, Elise, Paul, Miriam, Anthony, Lauren, Gareth, Joshua, Charlotte, Taylor and Koby (grandsons and wives/partners); Michelle, Malcolm, Sarah, Adrian, Claire, Katie and Megan (granddaughters and husbands); Chelsea, Hannah, Elicia, Emily, Shainie, Chloe, Scott, Shannon, Jordan, Kaitlin, Elinor, Kasey, Erin, Oban and Landy (great grandchildren); Cynthia and Lloyd, Terence and Phil (brothers-in-law and sistersin- law); Phil, Jenny, Linda, Ian, Christopher, Lynda, Mandy, Adrian and Kayleigh (nieces and nephews); Penry and Joan (cousins), plus many other relatives, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.

The service was held at Sunny Bank Farm followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn and was officiated by Reverend Chris Rees and Stewart Treharne (family friend).

The bearers at Sunny Bank Farm were Paul Hodge, Antony and Gareth Lewis and Joshua Hicks (grandsons), Phil Barraclough (nephew), Terence Cole (brother-inlaw).

The bearers at Parc Gwyn Crematorium were Ian and Peter Axon, David and Philip Lewis, Richard and Robert Hodge (grandsons).

Mr S Fenwick

Pembroke Dock

MR Stephen Fenwick of Market Street, Pembroke Dock passed away at Withybush Hospital on September 17 at the age of 58. He was originally from Monkton.

The family left to mourn are David and Susan Fenwick (brother and sister-in-law); Margaret and Leighton Arnold (sister and brother-inlaw); Anne Goodrick (sister); Elaine and Robert John (sister and brother-in-law).

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Rev Robert James. The bearers were David Fenwick (brother), Richard Ledwood, Martin Goodrick and Gethin John (nephews).
