Pembroke Dock

MRS Margaret Elizabeth Baker of High Street, Pembroke Dock passed away on November 30 at Withybush Hospital. She was 69.

After finishing teacher training at Coloma College in West Wycombe, Kent, she took her first teaching post at Albion Square for two years.

Then took time out for the birth of her three children.

Following this she was employed by social services and was instrumental in setting up Pennar Playgroup, which she did for a number of years until she filled a vacancy at Pembroke Dock Junior School in Argyle Street.

The final seventeen years prior to retirement saw her teaching at Orielton School.

Her main interests were family, music, garden, holidays, classic cars, travel, church, Plant Dewi and various other charities.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Peter (husband); Haydn and Debbie (son); Huw and Nicky (son); Jayne and Wayne (daughter); Emily, Hywel, Eleanor, Aideen, Yori and Dewi (grandchildren); Danielle, Lee, Craig and Justine.

Philip and Sue (brother) and Rhys, together with many more relatives, neighbours and friends too numerous to mention.

The service was held at St Johns Church, Pembroke Dock followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery. It was officiated by Canon Andrew Davies assisted by Revd Marina Evans and Revd Caroline Mansell.

Miss S E Richards

Tiers Cross

MISS Sheila Margaret Elizabeth Richards passed away at Torestin Care Home, Tiers Cross on November 25. She was 76.

Born in Marloes, eldest of seven children, the family moved to Mullock Bridge and then Dale, where Sheila worked for several years at the nurseries at St Ishmaels.

After the death of her father in the seventies, Sheila moved back to Marloes with her family, where she remained until she became a resident of Torestin Care Home in August of this year.

Sheila enjoyed the company of her pet dogs and liked to feed the wild birds in her garden. She liked to watch television and doing jig-saw puzzles.

Sheila occasionally had a day out with the Wednesday Club and a rare journey into town.

The service was held at St Peter’s Church, Marloes followed by interment. It was officiated by Reverend William Lewis and the bearers were Danny Scale, Phillip Griffiths, Stephen Bowen and Sam Gillespi.

The principal mourners are Mary and Graham Reeves (sister and brother-in-law); Raymond and Margaret Richards (brother and sisterin- law); Joyce and Norman Mathias (sister and brotherin- law); Brian and Janet Richards (brother and sisterin- law Janet was unable to attend the funeral); Ian, Paul, Graham, Peter, Andrew, Stephen, Barry. Adrian, Wayne, Mark, Philip and niece Beverly and respective partners, together with many more relatives, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for The Manager, Torestin Care Home, Tiers Cross.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, of Milford Haven.

 

Mr G James

Scleddau

THE death of Gwynfor James occurred on Friday November 28. He was 61 years old.

Gwynfor was born in Jordanston and had been a farm worker all his life.

He enjoyed socialising, playing darts in local pubs and had a keen interest in horses.

The funeral service was held at St Peter’s Church, Little Newcastle on Monday December 8 followed by burial in the churchyard.

The service was officiated by the Parish Ordinand Richard Davies and Rev. Pat Rogers.

The bearers were Eric George, Selwyn Lloyd, Dylan Morris and Mervyn Hawkins.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners were Margaret (partner); Glyn and Phillip (brothers); Marilyn and Jacob (sister and brother- in-law); Joyce and Mike (sister and partner); Janet and Geoff (sister and brother- in-law) plus many more relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu if desired for Asthma UK being received by Paul Jenkins and Sons Funeral Directors, Feidr Castell, Fishguard, SA65 9BB.

 

Mrs E B Kerwick

Milford Haven

MRS Edith Beryl Kerwick (known as Beryl) of Steyton Road, Milford Haven passed away on Ward 11 at Withybush Hospital on October 28.

She was 87.

As a native of Milford Haven she retired in 1993 from Milford Comprehensive where she was a cleaner.

Her main interests were old time dancing, knitting and reading.

She was also an active member of St Francis’ Roman Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward Kerwick.

The family left to mourn are Delwyn and Wolfgang Eckhardt, Karen and Tony Ratcliffe (daughters and sons-in-law); Tony and Alison Ratcliffe, Christopher and Heidi Ratcliffe, Melanie and Michael Scholz; Edward and Silvia Eckhardt, Martina Eckhardt and Rainer (grandchildren); Philip, Fabian, Phoebe, Hayden, Chloe, Lliam (great grandchildren); Glyn Adams (brother); Dyls Swales and Delwyn Evans (sisters and Norman husband and their families); Nigel and Christine Evans, Julian and Craig Evans, Stephen and Angela Swales, Jonathon Swales, Nicola and Stephen Arnold, Kevin Swales, Mark Adams, Maureen and Arthur Brickwell, Pauline and Jimmy Trevan, Margaret Jones.

The funeral service was held at St Francis’s RC Church, Milford haven followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, and it was officiated by Father Paul Osunyikanmi.

The bearers were Tony and Christopher Ratcliffe, Edward Eckhardt, Stephen Swales, Julian and Nigel Evans.

Donations in lieu for the Paul Sartori Foundation, Haven Road, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, of Milford Haven.

 

Mrs M E Davies

Narberth

THE death occurred at Withybush Hospital on November 21 of Mrs Marjorie Eleanor Davies of Hill Park, Narberth. She was 72.

Originally from Begelly she was the only child of Wilfred and Beatrice Killa born at Cowsland Farm.

She was educated at Loveston School and then moved to Templeton to live with her grandmother (who she later nursed until her death). She worked at Squibbs Studios, Tenby and Selwyn House Boarding School, Begelly.

She moved to Narberth with her father in 1967 and then married Roland in 1968. They went on to have a daughter, Avice in 1971.

She was a housewife and mother and her interests included going to town everyday and meeting people, cooking, gardening, puzzle books and spending time with her family and the cat Toby.

She was predeceased by her husband Roland Davies.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Avice (daughter); Sheila, Ivor and Ray Hughes, John, Delma and Andrew Stephens, Stephen Davies and Ruth Price (cousins); Mair Davies (sister- in-law); Tegwen Burns, Huw Davies, Rhys and Mary Davies, Sian and Lyn Mathias (nieces and nephews); Hywel and Katherine Davies, Mary and Grismond Lewis (cousins).

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Rev Hywel Brown.
