Trefgarne Owen

MRS Brenda John passed away peacefully at home on November 30. She was 73.

Brenda was a big part of her community, always baking and organising events for Trefgarne Owen. She enjoyed having her family and friends around her. She spent most of her working life with Lockmeyler Guest House until her retirement three years ago.

Her interests were her family, baking, working with her community. To which she will be very sadly missed.

The funeral took place at Newton Chapel, Hayscastle with a large gathering of family and friends on Saturday December 6. Officiating the service were Rev Aled Jenkins, Rev Geraint Morse, Mr John Evans. Rev Huw George (nephew) gave a eulogy, who spoke well on Brenda’s behalf.

Unable to attend were Rev Geoffrey Gwyther and Rev Geoffrey Eynon.

Interment followed at Middle Mill Cemetery and was officiated by Rev Aled Jenkins and Rev Geoffrey Eynon.

There were family flowers only and the bearers were Richard John, Mark Owens, Martin Davis and Christopher Clancy.

The principal mourners were Len (husband); Keith and Janice, Barry and Hazel (sons and daughters-in-law); Adrian and Mark (son and partner); Kaylee, Richard, Jason and Daniel (grandchildren); Shayne, Lucas and Ryan (great grandchildren); Vand Pusey (sister); Wyndam and Eileen (brother and sister-in-law); Brian Owens (brother) and other family members too numerous to mention.

Unable to attend were Sheila Godbold (sister); Sylvia (cousin); Terry Pusey (brother- in-law).

The funeral arrangements were professionally carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest who are still receiving donations for Paul Sartori Foundation and Solva Surgery

 

Mr S J Derrick

Pembroke

MR Stephen James Derrick of Gibbas Way, Pembroke passed away on Sunderland Ward, South Pembs Hospital on December 19. He was 65.

Originally from Abertillery, Monmouthshire, Steve began his teaching career in St Julian’s High School, Newport.

He then trained to become a special needs teacher at Caerleon.

He moved to Swansea, where he taught at Pentrechwyth Unit and then at Pendarvis Unit in Port Talbot.

He was loved by his pupils, helping many to progress to good careers.

He was a sprinter in his youth and played rugby. He began playing hockey at Llanishen, in Cardiff and when he moved to Swansea he played for Oystermouth. He was also an umpire for the Swansea Hockey Team.

Steve was a member of the Cardiff Folk Dance Team and performed solo clog dances at both Cardiff and Caerphilly Castle, once appearing in front of Queen (the pop group).

His main interests of late were reading and golf.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Wendy Derrick (wife); Rhian (daughter); Geraint (son); Rebecca (daughter-in-law); Ella and Joey (grandchildren); Carole and David (brotherin- law); Jean and John, Nigel and Jill, Alison and Robert; Julie; son of Betty (residing at Hengoed Court, Swansea) and the late Edwin Joseph; uncle to Ian, Bethan, Michelle, Katy, Christopher, Rhodri, Rachel and the late Rebecca; cousin to Yvonne.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on January 2 and was officiated by Father Paul Davies.

Mr S J Wilkins

Milford Haven

MR Stuart James Wilkins of Bay View Drive, Gelliswick, Milford Haven passed away on December 22 at Withybush Hospital at the age of 75.

Originally from Pontypridd and then Milford Haven, Stuart worked for Edmundsons and Len Rowe before setting up his own electrical business D and S Electrical and Haven Sound Public Address.

Although retired from D and S Electrial for a few years, Stuart kept up his PA company celebrating 50 years doing Milford Remembrance Day this year.

Stuart used to scuba dive and loved watching rugby especially when Wales and England played.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Shirley (beloved wife); dear father to Lynn-Marie, Nicola, Steven and Jacqueline; Nigel, Martin and Ian (sons-in-law); Jeanette (daughter-in-law); loving grandfather to Aaron, Chris, Adam, Ewan, Kern, Logan, Drew and Poppy; adored great granddad to Jay; loving brother of Anthony and Edith; Linda, Ann and Cheryl (sisters-in-law); Ken (brother-in-law), plus nieces, nephews and cousins.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on December 30 and was officiated by Father Harri Williams.

Mrs J Evans

Kilgetty

MRS Joan Evans (nee Fish) of Station Road, Kilgetty passed away at Withybush Hospital on December 12. She was 82.

Originally from Tenby she was employed by Messrs T P Hughes and Son, Tenby as a dressmaker.

Her main interests were sewing and gardening.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Geoffrey Evans (husband); Alan and Susan (son and daughter-in-law); Lucy Evans (granddaughter); Owain Evans (grandson) plus cousins, nephews and nieces too numerous to mention.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on December 22 and was officiated by Rev Elwyn John.

The bearers were Peter Best, Paul Rodgers, Lyn Lewis and Robert Lillycrop.
