Llandissilio

MR David Myrddin John passed away suddenly after a long illness courageously bourne at Tegfynydd, Llandissilio on May 21 aged 56.

Myrddin was brought up in Bryngwenllian, Whitland and went to Whitland Primary School and Ysgol Gruffydd Jones, St Clears. During his last year of school his mother passed away very suddenly.

After finishing school he did his apprenticeship in mechanics at Bob Davies Garage in Whitland and attended Pibwrlwyd College in Carmarthen. It was during this time that he met Yvonne and they married two years later and had two sons, Richard and David. They lived happily in Whitland for many years and later moved to Llanddewi Velfrey. During his marriage to Yvonne, he developed a special bond with mam Val.

Myrddin started his working life as a HGV Engineer at the Milk Factory Transport Department in Whitland and worked there for many years.

Following this he adapted his skills and worked for other local companies.

During his time living and caretaking at Dolycwrt Surgery in Whitland, Myrddin enjoyed driving Dr Penn to visit his patients because he loved meeting people and having a chat.

Myrddin’s last employment was at CCF. Clynderwen where he spent the happiest days of his working life.

It was during his illness that he moved to Tegfynydd, Llandissilio to be closer to his family.

His main interests in life were his family, his collection of model cars and classic car events.

The family left to mourn are Yvonne (wife); Richard and Emma, David and Hailey (sons and daughters-in-law); Emiley, Eve, Maddie and Ellie (granddaughters); Ann and David (sister and brother- in-law); mam/Val (motherin- law); Gareth and Kenneth (brothers-in-law); Liz (sisterin- law); Gaynor and John (sister and brother-in-law); nephews, nieces and cousins too numerous to mention.

The bearers were Richard and David John (sons); Gareth and Kenneth Richards (brothers-in-law); John Lewis (brother-in-law) and Mark John (nephew).

The service of remembrance was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth on June 1 and was officiated by Rev Huw George.

Donations for Meddygfa Taf, Whitland may be sent to W J Kenneth Davies and Sons, Blaenwern, Clynderwen, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

 

Ms M M N Morgan

Ambleston

MINNA Mary Nesta Morgan (Mair) died suddenly but peacefully at her home Highbury, North Court, Ambleston on April 15 aged 81.

She was a very much loved mother to Gwenda and David, mother-in-law to Robert and Kaye, grandmother to Bethan and Stephen, Jonathan and Christina, Ian and the late Catrin, great gran to Sion and Elis and survived by her two sisters Gwen and Beryl.

Born in Clyn, Llanychaer to Hugh and Lorina Luke, before moving to Penymynydd Mawr, Puncheston along with her elder brother Bertie, where she lived all her life until retiring from farming in 1995. She was predeceased by her younger brother Archie in 1992, her elder brother Bertie in 2006 and her granddaughter Catrin in 2014.

Mair spent all her working life farming, being an excellent stock woman, milking and tending to stock was her delight. She cared for her mother Lorina up until her death in 1989. Soon after her retirement, she along with her brother Bertie converted an outbuilding at North Court and moved there in 1997. She cared for Bertie until her own health deteriorated.

After Bertie’s death, she became housebound and was cared for by her daughter Gwenda along with carers from Western Welsh up until her death.

The funeral took place at Bethel Chapel, Puncheston where Mair had been a member all of her life with interment at Puncheston Cemetery. The service was officiated by Rev William Owen assisted by the Revds Ken Thomas and Martin Spain.

The organist was Mrs Margaret Griffiths. The bearers were Stephen Morgan, Ian Vaughan, Jonathan Morgan, Huw Thornton, Hugh Bevan and Richard Vaughan.

The principal mourners were joined by neighbours and friends from the Puncheston area along with numerous cousins from Mair’s family.

Unable to attend were Mair’s two surviving aunts Mrs Brenda Llewelyn and Mrs Beryl Lloyd. Donations in lieu of flowers were received for the Catrin Vaughan Foundation.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son of Haverfordwest.

 

Mrs E M Jones

Tenby

MRS Edith May Jones passed away peacefully at Park House Court Nursing Home Tenby on May 19 aged 92.

Edith was born in Uzmaston in 1923, later moving to Dredgeman Hill.

She attended Uzmaston and Johnston schools.

On leaving school Edith worked for Doctor George in Hill Street, Haverfordwest.

Edith married Cyril Jones at Ebenezer Chapel, Haverfordwest on June 1 1948.

They moved to their home in Queensway and brought up three children David, Janet and Michael.

Cyril died in 1992 and Edith continued to live alone until 2013 when declining health led to her final years in initially Pembroke Haven Residential Home in Pembroke Dock and then Park House, Tenby.

Edith took great pride in her eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Chapel and Ladies Guild throughout her life.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are David and Ruth Jones (son and daughter-in-law); Janet and Roger Howell (daughter and son-in-law); Michael and Brenda Jones (son and daughter-in-law); eight grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Also her brother Clifford Lewis, sister and brother-in-law Iris and Bob Kerslake, plus nephews, nieces, friends and neighbours.

The funeral service on June 1 was held at Ebenezer Chapel Haverfordwest followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn.

Rev Jonathan Kirk and Rev Martyn Evans officiated at the services and the organist was Jean Llewellyn. Mr Graham Hay (Chapel Secretary and friend ) read a tribute at Parc Gwyn from Edith’s family in Australia who were unable to attend.

Donations for Alzheimer’s Research may be sent to Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

 

Mr K P Griffiths

Milford Haven

MR Keith Percival Griffiths of Albion Street, Milford Haven passed away at Withybush Hospital on May 29.

He was 78.

As a native of Milford Haven he was involved in the family business Albion Bakery in Milford Haven.

He was then employed at Wonderloaf, and then run the corner shop with his brother before retiring.

He served his national service with the Royal Artillery.

Driving all over Cyprus in the late 50s, when there was trouble on the island.

His main interests were his home and his family.

Camping in North Wales and holidaying abroad.

He worked tirelessly for the Conservative Party before health prevented him.

Coco the dog was his constant companion.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners ate Mrs Primrose Griffiths (wife of 52 years); Fiona and Jeff (daughter and son-in-law); Huw and Tracey (son and partner); Molly and Alex (grandchildren) plus cousins, friends and neighbours.

The service was held at St Katharines and St Peters Church, Milford Haven on June 4 followed by interment at Freystrop Cemetery. It was officiated by Father Harri Williams with a reading by Canon John Davies.

There were family flowers only with donations to Pembs Alzheimers Society, 4 Temeraire House, Nelson Quay, Milford Haven.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, of Milford Haven.

 

Mrs J Davies

Haverfordwest

The death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital on May 14 aged 79 years of Mrs Joyce Davies of Jockey fields, Prendergast, Haverfordwest beloved wife of the late Sidney Davies, a carpenter from Simpson Cross.

Joyce leaves to mourn her triplet daughters Yvonne, Angela, and the late Elizabeth Hughes from Penycwm, her only son Philip and many grandchildren.

The bearers were Andrew Codd, Tom Hale, Andrew Scott and Richard Davies.

The officiating minister was Mr Luke Williams - Jehovah Witness.
