Haverfordwest

MR Derek Morgan of Shakespeare Close, Priory Park, Haverfordwest passed away at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest on June 17.

He was 84.

He was born in London to Welsh parents, who then returned to South Wales during the raids on London in 1940. He was educated at the Rhondda Junior Technical College and Cardiff Technical College.

He served with the Air Force in Malta for two years.

After his National Service he worked as a contracts estimator for a Cardiff building company.

Derek left Cardiff to complete a year as a full time student at Bolton Technical Teachers Training College.

There followed teaching posts in Exeter, West Africa, Cambridge and Pembrokeshire.

He retired from Pembrokeshire College and teaching in 1990 and enjoyed his life working as a volunteer for Age Concern, Pembrokeshire, and his much loved travels to Australia.

The family left to mourn are Kathleen (wife); Susan, Sian and Lisa (three daughters); seven grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on June 26.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Sons, of Haverfordwest.

 

Mrs F Forde

Milford Haven

MRS Frances Forde of St Lawrence Avenue, Hakin, Milford Haven passed away on June 13 at the age of 90.

Originally from Dundee she moved to Milford Haven at the age of 18.

She was a school meals supervisor and also had various cleaning jobs.

Her interests included fundraising with the Lady Glades, volunteering with the WRVS, and also darts, bingo and reading.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners were Anne and Billy, Susan and Richard, Julie and Malcolm (daughters and sons-inlaw); Michael and Paulette (son and daughter-in-law); Paul, Ian, Kelly and Andrew, Nikola and Hannah (grandchildren and partners); ten great grandchildren; Isabella and Helen (nieces); Stephen and William (nephews); plus many friends and neighbours.

Unable to attend were her sister Margaret from Hertfordshire and brother Robert from Scotland.

The service was held at Hamilton Court Funeral Home followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth.

It was officiated by Canon John Davies and the bearers were Susan, Michael, Julie and Kelly.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to the Paul Sartori Foundation, 31 Haven Road, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, of Milford Haven.

 

Mrs A S Brockway

Pembroke Dock

MRS Alice Sarah Brockway of St. Peter’s Road, Pembroke Dock passed away peacefully on February 11, after a short stay in Ashdale Nursing Home, in Pembroke aged 80.

Alice was born in Cardiff on July 22 1934. The second child of Robert and Edith Saunders-Binding.

She married Raymond Brockway in1955 and they had five children. In 1972 the family moved to Pembroke Dock, Alice loved being a mother and grandmother and was at her happiest in her home. She enjoyed reading, and watching TV.

Sadly Raymond passed away in 2005, that year they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary together, this year would have been there diamond anniversary and sadly Alice passed away the day before.

In the last couple of years she had suffered ill heath breaking her hip and three weeks later badly fracturing her femur and in September suffering a stroke, although Alice lost her speech she was still a character and she could still make you smile The principle mourners were Susan, Carol and Rob, Ray and Pam, Lesley and David (children and partners); Shaun, Bethan, Katie, Megan, Haley, Owen and Becky (grandchildren and partner); June and Eddie, Bobby and Monica, Carol, Yvonne and Elizabeth (brother and sisters).

There were family flowers only, but donations if desired may be sent to John Roberts and Son, Pembroke Dock for the Stroke Association.

The service was held at St. John’s Church and was officiated by Reverend Caroline Mansell followed by interment with her husband Raymond at Llanion Cemetery.

Ashdale Nursing Home gave great care and support to Alice and also South Pembs and Withybush Hospitals.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Neil and Rob, of John Roberts and son of Pembroke Dock.

 

Mrs P J Davies

Hakin

The death occurred peacefully on May 18 at Torestin Nursing Home surrounded by her family of Mrs Joan Davies. She was 83 and formally of Dairy Park Grove.

She was born in Hereford but spent her childhood in Brecon, then moved to Llandovery where she met her husband Reg Davies.

After marrying in Llandovery they moved to Milford Haven where they settled and had a family.

Later on Joan had a cleaning job in Hakin Infants School but left to look after her husband.

She spent many years with her friends playing bingo at Dairy Park and enjoyed the occasional holiday with them. She was predeceased by her husband Reg Davies and is survived by her daughter Mrs Carol Coe, Stephen (son-in-law) and Tracy and Becca (granddaughters).

The principal mourners are Carol and Stephen Coe (daughter and son-in-law); Tracy and Becca (granddaughters); Denzil and Betty (brother and sister-in-law); Ian and Mandy (brother and sister-in-law).

Officiating at the service was curate Josh Maynard at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Son Ltd of Milford Haven.

 

Mrs J A Pugh

Milton

MRS Joan Ann Pugh of Milton Meadows, Milton, Nr Tenby passed away at Withybush Hospital on June 5. She was 71.

Originally from Pembroke she was a trainer for the Dorothy Perkins Group and a partner (Director) of PRP Training and Recruitment.

Her main interests were golf, being a past captain of Tenby Ladies Golf Club and also a charity worker for Cancer Research UK.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Mr Raymond Asparassa (partner); Mark Pugh (son); Clare (daughter-in-law); Alison Love (daughter); David (son-in-law); Hannah, Jessica, Rhys, Cerys and William (grandchildren); Pamela Butler and Margaret Lewis (sisters); Malcolm Mathias (brother), plus many numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

The service was held at Monkton Priory Church followed by interment at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Rev Roger Jones.

The bearers were John Asparassa, Dean Asparassa, Craig Asparassa, Gareth Mathias and Nigel Lewis.

Donations in lieu of flowers to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Nurses to E C Thomas and Sons, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth SA67 8LJ who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
