Mr G Jellicoe

Mr Godfrey Jellicoe passed away suddenly on October 7 in Portugal whilst on holiday with his wife Sandra.

He was born in Ness on the Wirral to the late Dilys and Frank Jellicoe (who is now a centenarian) and worked all his life in the oil industry.

At 12 years of age he won a scholarship to Caldey Grammar School for boys. On leaving school at 16 he worked for Burmah Oil Company and then Shell Stanlow, where he obtained a higher national diploma at Cartlett Park.

In 1973 he moved to the Amoco/Elf Refinery in Milford Haven, where he was made Maintenance and Construction Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1997.

He understood the responsibilities that came with that role and did all he could to provide opportunities to train and employ local people.

He was very upset to hear of the closure of the refinery this year and his heart went out to all those who were impacted by this.

On and before his retirement he and Sandra travelled extensively together.

The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth where there was a large and representative congregation including former colleague from Shell, Total and Valero Refineries, as was Mr Geoff Williams, Head of Sport, BBC Wales Cymru, who Goff had met and mentored in the 1980's when he was head selector for the Haverfordwest Rugby Club.

It was officiated by Canon Roger Jones and Rev Jonathon Kirk (cousin).

The eulogy was read by Canon Jones.

Goff was a loving husband to Sandra for 28 years, a devoted father to Sarah and Victoria, step father to Jayne and Fiona, father-in-law to Martin Wheeler, Neil Phillips, Neil Griffiths;  a darling grandad to Mathew, Poppy, Abi and Lily; Mr and Mrs K Jellicoe (brother and sister-in-law), Mr and Mrs Royles (sister and brotherin- law), Mr Andrew Royles (nephew),

Other immediate family mourners were Glenys Roberts (aunty); Glyn (nephew); Mr Dick Powell (cousin); Margaret and Colin Tuttle (cousin); Mr and Mrs B Scriven, Mrs and Mrs D Luke (sisters and brothers-in-law).

The bearers were Neil Phillips and Neil Griffiths (sons-in- law), William Scriven (nephew) and Huw Roberts (cousin).

Mrs S P Morris

Llangwm

MRS Sheelah Patricia Morris (nee Lewis) of Llangwm passed away at her home on September 26. She was 91.

As a native of Llangwm she went to school in Haverfordwest and studied at Aberystwyth University.

She specialised in bacteriology and before her marriage worked in the laboratory testing milk. With her husband and family she lived in the south of England, returning to Pembrokeshire after his death.

She took over Elizabeth Stuart, Charles Street, Milford Haven, the ladies fashion shop. When she retired she moved back to Llangwm where she lived until her death.

Sheelah had a wide range of interests including her garden, music and the theatre, cooking and enjoyed a lively discussion with family and friends. She travelled widely to visit her family in the USA and Germany.

She was a devoted member of the church wherever she lived and supported many charities.

Sheelah was predeceased by her husband Andes Morris in 1974 and also her son Wynn Morris in 2006.

The funeral service was held at St Katharines and St Peter’s Church, Milford Haven followed by interment at Deerland Cemetery, Llangwm.

It was officiated by Father Harri Williams and Reverend Penny Hughes.

The bearers were Skyrme K Peterson (son); Nicolas Urban (nephew); Stephen Lewis (nephew); David Reynolds (great-nephew).

The principal mourners and family left to mourn are Skyrne K Peterson (son); Maria and Bernd Urban (daughter and son-in-law); Alexander and Cordula Urban, Nicolas and Franziska Urban, Dominic Urban (grandsons and wives); Amylia and Philipp Urban (great grandchildren); Skyrme and Morfudd Lewis (brother and sister-in-law); Stephen Lewis (nephew); Jane Reynolds (niece) together with great nephews and nieces, cousins and other family members and friends.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd of Milford Haven.

 

Mr M Griffiths

Milton

MR Mark Griffiths of Honeys Park Farm, Milton, near Tenby passed away on September 18 at home. He was 40.

Mark was the much loved son of Ormond and Dorothy Griffiths of Honeys Park Farm, Milton. Mark had been unwell for sometime, but he never complained, and he passed away peacefully.

Mark worked at home with his parents on the farm. He was a quiet, home loving boy who had a great interest in computers, music and television, he also enjoyed family holidays.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Ormond and Dorothy Griffiths (parents); Mrs Rita Miles (aunt); plus cousins and friends too numerous to mention.

The bearers were Roger Scourfield, Robert John, Philip Lewis, John Bentley, Dennis O’Connor, Raymond Hughes.

The funeral service was held at St Mary’s Church, Carew Cheriton followed by interment at Carew Cheriton Cemetery on September 29. It was officiated by Reverend Carolyn Wood; Mrs Lewis (organist).

Mr I Davies

MR Ian Davies passed away at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on October 2.

He was 62.

Ian was born in Barry and brought up in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

He was the son of Alan and Beryl Davies. Ian has a younger brother Martin.

Ian returned to Wales in 1969 after the death of his father to complete an apprenticeship as an electrician at British Rail.

In 1974 Ian met Susan Jones in Cardiff. They were married in 1975 also in Cardiff and had 40 happy years together. They had two children Christopher and Andrew.

Ian worked from 1976 to 1985 as an electrician, assistant engineer and chief engineer at Unigate Dairy, Marshfield. Ian then worked as chief engineer at Unigate Swansea from 1985- 87 and then chief engineer at St Ivel, Haverfordwest from 1987 to 1991.

Ian also worked at Stena Line and most recently at St Davids Assemblies.

He moved to Hook in 1987 and was a very active member of the community. He regularly got involved in local events and served on the committee at the local sports club in various roles including treasurer and most recently chairman.

He had three grandchildren Liam, Megan and Robyn and will be missed enormously by all his friends and family.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Susan Davies (wife); Christopher Davies (son); Andrew Davies (son); Martin Davies (brother) and families.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Father Owen McGreal with the eulogy being read by Mary Coughlin.

Mrs M Griffiths

Tufton

MAISIE Griffiths passed away suddenly at her home in Tufton on September 17 at the age of 71.

Maisie was the widow of the late Ian Griffiths, and stepmother of Jane, Elizabeth and Anthony.

Maisie was born on November 17 1943 at Castlepollard in County West Meath, Ireland.

For many years Maisie’s family home was at Killoughter, Redhills, County Cavan which she shared with her brother Seamus. Maisie first met Ian in 1985 at Butler’s Bridge, County Cavan whilst he was holidaying there. They were married at Woodstock Chapel in November 1989 and made their home at Woodstock Cross.

In 1992 Maisie and Ian moved to their new home at Tufton.

During the early 1990’s, Maisie worked in the tea rooms at the Nursery in Rhos, and later carried out voluntary work with the WRVS at Withybush Hospital. In 2004, Maisie and Ian established M & I Supplies Ltd, a business that sold seeds and other agricultural commodities to farms.

Maisie and Ian enjoyed twenty four contented years together, but Ian’s death in December 2013 was a devastating loss for Maisie.

Maisie will be remembered as a regular and popular member of both the Mothers Union and the Women’s Institute and a cheerful character in the local communities of Ambleston and Puncheston parishes.

The funeral service was held on September 25 at the Chapel of Rest, Feidr Castell, Fishguard and officiated by Father Liam Bradley, assisted by Rev.William T E Owen, Rev. Geoffrey Eynon, Rev. David Rees and Rev. Geraint Morse. The eulogy was presented by Anthony Griffiths (step-son).

The bearers were Anthony Griffiths (step-son), Jon Smith (son-in-law), Joe Griffiths (grandson), Stephen Robinson (granddaughter’s partner).

Family left to mourn and principal mourners are Jane and Jon (step-daughter and son-in-law), Elizabeth (stepdaughter), Anthony and Louise (step-son and partner), Amy and Stephen (granddaughter and partner), Charlie and Joe (grandsons), Dexter (great grandson), John and Margaret (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mair and Jon, Robert and Lisa (nieces and nephews), Stella Griffiths (aunt), Barbara Williams (aunt).

Interment followed at Woodstock Cemetery. There were family flowers only.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Paul Jenkins and Sons, Feidr Castell, Fishguard.
