Angle

MRS Rosemary Newton of West Bay Close, Angle, Pembroke passed away peacefully at her home on February 24 after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. She was 53.

Born in Newton Abbot, Devon, she moved to Pembrokeshire with her family at the age of 13, where she attended Pembroke Comprehensive School.

Rosemary was well known and well-loved having worked in Pembroke for most of her adult life. She would be remembered working at the Spar in Monkton, Fine Fair, Stratfords and for the last 12 years, on the photo counter at Lloyds Pharmacy.

Rosemary moved to Angle 11 years ago with her husband Mark where they enjoyed walking the dog on the coast path. She was a keen photographer and loved all sorts of crafts especially knitting. Rosemary was a devoted and loving wife and mother.

The family left to mourn are Mark (husband); Matthew and Natalia (son and partner); Kimberley and Jon (daughter and fiancé); James, Steven, John and Robert (brothers); Ceri (sister).

The service was well attended and held at Parc Gwyn on March 9.

There were family flowers only with donations to Macmillan being received by John Roberts and Son, of Pembroke Dock who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Trecwn

PAT of ‘Disgwylfa’ Trecwn passed away at Withybush Hospital on March 10 aged 73.

She was born in Little Newcastle, the youngest child of the late David and Molly Lloyd.

She was the devoted wife of the late Lynn for over 50 years and they had three children, Wynn, Wendy and Lloyd and three grandchildren Cathryn, David and Andrew.

They were so proud of them all.

Pat was a gentle, kind and caring person who enjoyed farming, there was always a warm welcome for family and friends at ‘Disgwylfa’.

The funeral service at Parc Gwyn was on March 22. The service was officiated by Reverend Alwyn Daniels and Cathryn read a poem.

The family left to mourn are Wynn, Wendy, Lloyd, Paul and Susan (sons, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-inlaw); Cathryn, David and Andrew, Ross and Tanya (grandchildren and partners); Ronald, Howard and Eurfron, Gareth and Gloria (brothers and sisters-in-law); Gareth and Ray (brother-in-law and sister-in-law); nephews and nieces were Jean and Alwyn, Parry and Val, Euros and Annie, Heulwen and Dafydd, Berwyn and Hedydd, Delyth and Alistair, Barbara and Adrian, Peter and Sue, Robert and Christine, with cousins too numerous to mention.

Pat’s funeral was a testament of how well thought of and respected she was.

The bearers were Paul Harries, Eric George, Adrian Jones and Derek John (close family friends). Donations made payable to the ‘British Lung Foundation (COPD)’ being received by Paul Jenkins and Sons, Feidr Castell, Fishguard, SA65 9BB, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

Haverfordwest

THE death occurred peacefully on March 12 at Rickeston Mill Nursing Home of William Herbert Gray (Bill), aged 91 years, of Hawthorn Rise, Haverfordwest.

Born in Haverfordwest and one of eleven children, Bill joined the Royal Navy as a teenager and was a gunner on the Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships (D.E.M.S.), Bill always said that this stood for ‘Don’t Ever Marry Sailors’ which his late wife Doreen obviously didn’t agree with when she married him in 1946. Doreen predeceased her husband in March 2015, it would have been their 70th Wedding Anniversary in July.

Bill loved the sea and was a former member of The Pembrokeshire Sub Aqua Club, making good friends during his many years diving with them either around the coast of his beloved Pembrokeshire or at times abroad.

He was a devoted father to his three daughters Lynda, Janet (America) and Pauline and loved nothing better than to be with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.

The principal mourners and family left to mourn are Lynda and David (daughter and partner); Janet and Chuck (daughter and husband from America and regrettably unable to attend); Pauline and Iain (daughter and husband); Lisa, Aron and Eric (grandchildren in America and unable to attend); Brett and Gary, Adam and Cath, Lewis and Charlotte (grandchildren and husbands/wives) as well as many other family members and friends.

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on March 24 and was officiated by Rev. Martyn Evans.

The bearers were Michael Gray, Adam Murphy, Lewis Wood and Iain Wood.

There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to The Paul Sartori Foundation, Haven Road, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Glyn Thomas and Son, Freystrop, Haverfordwest.

Trefgarn Owen

EIFION of Trefgarn Villa, Trefgarn Owen passed away peacefully at home on March 20 aged 81.

He was born in Trefgarn Villa, one of two sons born to Tommy and Dorothy Davies.

He went to Trefgarn Owen School and St Davids Grammar School, leaving school at 15 to come home to the family farm. Eifion was a founder member of Brawdy Young Farmers Club and a long serving Councillor with Brawdy Community Council.

He was also a member in his younger years of Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir and Milford Male Voice Choir where he met his future wife, Marian. They married in 1962 and their three daughters, Jayne, Ann and Helen followed. Eifion was a faithful member of Trefgarn Owen Congregational Chapel where he was a Deacon and Trustee. In recent years he had enjoyed singing with Roch Mixed Choir and Old Time Music Hall Players.

He was passionate about his tractors and took part on many charitable tractor runs.

He was very much a family man and will be greatly missed by them all. The number of family and friends attending his funeral was testament to how well thought of Eifion was.

The family left to mourn are Marian (wife), Jayne and Luke (daughter and partner), Ann and Huw (daughter and son-in-law), Helen and Rod (daughter and partner), Rebecca and Chris (granddaughter and fiance), Sean and Hayley (grandson and partner), Rhys and Charlene (grandson and fiance), Elis (grandson), Joanna, Kate, Ruby (great grand daughters).

The service was held at Trefgarn Owen Congregational Chapel followed by interment in the Chapel Cemetery. The service was officiated by the Reverend Geoffrey Eynon and assisted with prayers and readings by Reverend Martin Spain, Reverend Geraint Morse, Mr John Evans, Huw Rees and Luke Lenton. Roch Mixed Choir and friends sang “The Reverend Eli Jenkins’ Prayer”.

The bearers were Huw Rees, Luke Lenton, Chris Jenkins, Sean and Rhys Quigley (family) and David Davies (best friend). Donations in memory of Eifion if desired made payable to the Paul Sartori Foundation or Pembrokeshire Parkinson’s c/o Paul Jenkins and Sons Funeral Directors, Feidr Castell, Fishguard, SA65 9BB, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
