THE funeral of Nesta Davies took place on Wednesday September 7 at St Mary’s Church, Tenby, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.

The services were officiated by the Rev John Morgan.

Nesta passed away at Park House Nursing Home on August 22 aged 95 years.

She had spent her whole life in Tenby working for many years in the family hotel on the Croft before retiring to Merlins Gardens where she and her sister Freda bought adjoining houses.

Nesta lived there until the autumn of last year when full time care became necessary.

She had spent the last months of her life at Park House.

Nesta was a kind and caring lady, well known in Tenby and she was always interested in what was going on in the town and how her family and friends were getting on.

She was predeceased by her brother Dick and sister Freda. She is survived by her nephew Michael and his partner Rachel; her niece Joan and husband David and her family, cousin Joy and her family plus many other family members and friends.

The principal mourners at the funeral were Michael and Rachel (nephew and partner); Joan and David (niece and husband); Andrea, Mark and Steve (great niece, great nephew and their father); cousin Joy and her sons Neil and Andrew; daughter-in-law Heidi, and grandchildren Thomas and Martha.

The bearers were her great nephew Mark, her cousins sons Neil and Andrew, and family friend Robert.

There were family flowers only but donations if desired were made payable to R.N.L.I.

Llanychaer

PEACEFULLY on August 3 Beryl passed away at Withybush Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 93.

Beryl was the youngest daughter of John and Minna Vaughan of Clyn Farm, Llanychaer.

She was married to Bertie for 32 years and his sudden death in 1978 was a great shock and sadness to her.

Beryl devoted her whole life to her family and farming.

She had been a faithful member of St. David’s Church, Llanllawer until its closure and then at St. David’s Church, Llanychaer. A family service was held at St.

David’s Church, Llanychaer officiated by Rev Christopher Brown and assisted by Mrs Catherine Hammond, Mr Dick Russell was the organist.

Also present was Rev Geoffrey Eynon, John Roberts and Neil Llewellyn.

The service was followed by interment at Glandwr Cemetery, where there was a large gathering.

The principal mourners were David and Carolyn (son and daughter-in -law); Diane and Alec, Gwenda and Thomas (daughters and son-in-laws) and her son Gareth who had lovingly cared for Beryl. Granddaughters Miranda, Nicola, Sarah, Nia and Nerys and great grandson Louis, Danielle Lloyd, granddaughter-in-law and many close relatives too numerous to mention.

Beryl also had another 15 great grandchildren who were too young to attend. Unable to attend was her sister Brenda.

The bearers were grandsons Nigel and Martyn and grandsons-in-law Ian, James, Jason and Richard.

Donations in memory of Beryl made payable to Diabetics UK Cymru or Wales Air Ambulance c/o Paul Jenkins & Sons, Funeral Directors, Fishguard who carried out the funeral arrangements in a respectful and caring way.

Mr D Weston

Pembroke Dock

MR Doug Weston of Wellington Street, Pembroke Dock and formerly of Williamson Street, Pembroke passed away on August 6 at his home.

He was 78.

Formerly of Brentford and Hammersmith, he had lived in Pembrokeshire from his 20’s onwards.

He was a professional motorcycle racer until his national service. He served in the RAF for NS.

He became a tool maker when he left. The majority of his working life was spent as an operator at various refineries both in Pembrokeshire and abroad. He spent 10 years in Saudi during the mid to late 80’s and the early 90’s.

He was a keen golfer, being a member of the South Pembs Golf Club, fishing (coarse), he enjoyed rebuilding model aeroplanes.

He was also an established boxer during his late teens being London Champion in the late 1950’s.

He was predeceased by his wife Bernice Weston in 2011.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Diana and Adrian Phillips (niece and nephew-in-law); Rhianne Cox (niece); Sophie Russell (niece); Genna and Kirtis Bowen (niece and nephew-in-law); Rori, Acer and Codi Bowen (great nieces and nephew); Brian and Ann Weston (brother and sisterin- law); Colin Weston (brother), along with many other family members and friends.

The funeral service was held at Monkton Priory on August 15 followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.

It was officiated by Rev Paul Nash.

The bearers were Kirtis Bowen, Lance Keane, Adrian Phillips, Paul Russell, Sean Doherty and Charles Cox.
