A large gathering of family and friends attended the recent funeral of Mr Derek Rhys Morris of Prescelly Park, Haverfordwest.

A true gentleman, Mr Morris passed away peacefully on October 18 at Withybush General Hospital.

Born in Letterston to the late Rhys and Sophia Morris, he worked in the treasury department of Pembrokeshire County Council and later in Carmarthen for Dyfed County Council from where he retired after 41 years of service in local government.

Married to Elizabeth for almost 60 years, he also leaves to mourn Dean (son), Neil and Beverley (son and daughter-in -law) Rhys (grandson), Beryl and Avis (sisters), Janice and David, Sandra and Billy, Eileen, Joy and Winsor (brothers and sisters-in-law), Susan and Howard (niece and nephew in law) Eileen (cousin), Sylvia and Graham (cousin and husband) plus nieces and nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.

The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn.

Officiating the service was Mr Geoffrey Eynon.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

There were immediate family flowers only but donations may be made to the Paul Sartori Foundation, of 31 Haven Road, Haverfordwest.

Mr D B Billing

Haverfordwest

Mr David Brian Billing aged 54, of Lindsway Park Haverfordwest passed away peacefully in Withybush Hospital on August 8 surrounded by his family.

David was the eldest son of the late Bill Billing and Gloria Roach and brother to Dawn, Susan, Kirk, Lee and Dee.

Born in North London, David moved to Pembrokeshire at the age of ten. He left school and began working at Corona Pop before joining the Royal Air Force for 18 years.

He was an MT Driver and was fortunate to travel to many parts of the world with his work. He finished his RAF career in Boscombe Down in 1996 before returning to Pembrokeshire.

He took up various driving positions until he became a porter at Withybush Hospital. He then became equipment librarian until he retired through ill health in 2015.

A large gathering of family, friends and colleagues attended Prendergast Church on August 19 for his funeral, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn.

An acoustic melody was performed by his nephew Scott and a farewell poem was read by his daughter Lucy. Father Geoffery Gwyther officiated.

His ashes have been interred at Prendergast Churchyard.

The bearers were Kirk Billing, Lee Billing, Tim Gibbs, John Williams, Tony Thomas, Chris Parry, Stephen Doncaster and Lyn Jones.

He is survived by his wife Judith and his much loved daughters Megan and Lucy. He will be sadly and greatly missed by his and family and many friends.

Donations in lieu of flowers were collected by Mrs Allison Williams and have been shared between Pembrokeshire Cancer Care, Paul Satori and MacMillan Nurses.

Mrs J Thomas

Ludchurch

Mrs Janet Thomas of Jandor, Ludchurch, died aged 62 on October 24 at Withybush General Hospital.

A native of Bedworth, Coventry, Mrs Thomas worked at RH Davies, Narberth and Dragon Stores, Narberth.

Her main interests were knitting, gardening and baking.

Married to Tudor Thomas, Mrs Thomas also leaves to mourn: Angela Thomas (daughter), Bill and Jean Butler (brother and sister-in-law), Bernard and Doreen Thomas (brother and sister-in-law) and nephews and nieces Billy, Sian and Christopher, Helen, Hayley, Anita and Neil.

The funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on November 2.

The bearers were Christopher Butler, Tony Thomas, Roy Thomas and Anthony Howells. Rev Caroline Mansell officiated.
