Pam originated from Sutton Coldfield in Warwickshire.

Her father was a Scientist with the Coal Board, and gave evidence to the Aberfan Enquiry. As a young girl, she was accepted by the Royal School of Ballet, but unfortunately grew too tall. The family used to have many family holidays in Pembrokeshire.

On leaving school she worked at Barclays Bank, until she married her husband Gerald, a Civil Engineer, in 1968.

They moved around the country until they settled in Leicestershire, where they stayed for 25 years. They did not have any children, although there were numerous nephews and nieces. Pamela began studying and achieved an Honours Degree in English from Loughborough University, and was organiser of Scope, the English department’s Poetry group. After a year, Pam opened Codd’s Bookshop in Loughborough.

This was successful, but was sold in 1997 when Gerald took early retirement, and they moved to Manorbier. Pam became secretary of Manorbier Church P.C.C. and also treasurer of Manorbier Church Restoration Group. She continued her interest in bookselling by running the church bookshop, and the bookstall at the Fete in the Castle. As an avid reader, Pam was a member of Manorbier Book Club, and was also interested in theatre and history. For a few years, Pam worked as an Assistant Librarian at Haverfordwest Library.

Pam had been adopted as a baby by the Raybould family, and after her parents and brother had died, she eventually decided to find her birth family. Her mother was already dead, but she found an aunt and uncle, and also a half-brother, Richard who was living in Essex. After Pam had found him, he decided to search for his father, who turned out to be Iain Bell, from St. Brides Hotel, Saundersfoot, then deceased.

However he found his halfsister Gillian, who became firm friends with Pam. She enjoyed the last thirteen years of her life with her new found family.
