Mrs S Evans Herbrandston SUSAN Evans passed away peacefully at her home, in Herbrandston, on September 23.

Her funeral was held at Narberth Crematorium on October 5, and was officiated by the Reverend Josh Maynard.

She was born in Grimsby in 1941, where she had both a happy and idyllic childhood.

She could recall the austerity of rationing (no sweets!), sheltering under the stairs during air-raids with her brother John and spending days at Cleethorpes with loved ones.

Later on, she met Bob Evans at a dance during his RAF station, whom she would be happy married to for over fifty years.

They had two children, Julie and Richard, and lived in Lincolnshire for a period of time.

In 1973 they moved to Herbrandston, where they lovingly built their own home and designed their garden.

This outdoor haven is abundant with memories and was Sue’s love, sanctuary and now, one of her many legacies.

Sue had a wide array of creative talent; she trained as a seamstress and made most of the family’s clothes.

All members have vivid memories of matching garments made by Sue, and few weddings occurred without her hand in sewing the dresses.

In more recent times, she also knitted for her grandchildren; a particularly treasured item was a Harry Potter scarf for her granddaughter, Sophie.

She was also a dab hand in the kitchen and made sure no visitors went hungry. There was always a pudding waiting, a Christmas favourite being sherry trifle (one helping was never quite enough.) It is impossible to put how much she will be missed into words.

She was a character brimming with warmth, and adored as a wife, mother and grandmother to Lauren, Nicholas, Dominic and Sophie.
