Haverfordwest
The death occurred on November 28th of David Thomas John Edwards, of Kingsmere Close, Heritage Park, Haverfordwest. He was 66.
David was predeceased by his wife Jackie in 2005.
David was born in Freystrop, the eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. J. Edwards. He contracted Polio at the age of eight and spent most of his childhood in hospital.
He attended Freystrop and Haverfordwest Grammar Schools before starting work as a clerk at Haverfordwest Agricultural Co-op, eventually becoming general manager.
He met his wife Jackie when she nursed him in hospital and they married in 1966. They had two daughters, Sarah and Maria.
After Haverfordwest Co-op closed, David started up his own companies, David Edwards Agriculture and Dyfed Fuels and afterwards Merlins Hill Garden Centre, which he ran for many years.
In latter years, he worked as manager of Supergas and more recently West Wales Gas based at Withybush.
David was a high spirited, hard working person, and a devoted husband and father.
He was a great music lover and loved going to concerts and musical events. He had also enjoyed two trips to Cyprus this year, visiting Maria and Jim, his youngest daughter and son-in-law who had moved there 15 months ago. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends and by everyone who knew him through business.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Sarah and Nigel Parlor; Maria and Jim Outram (daughters and sons-in-law); Derek and Gillian Edwards, Dorian and Karen Edwards (brothers and sisters-in-law); Claire and Martin Roberts, Lucy and Robert Clark (nieces and husbands); Rhys and Ioan Edwards (nephews); Des and Jeanne Goodland (uncle and aunt), Pearl Edwards (aunt); Tony and Kath Parlor, plus family and friends too numerous to mention.
Unable to attend were Hedley and Grace England.
The funeral was held on December 9th at Middle Hill Chapel, Freystrop, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. Interment of his ashes took place the following day. Rev Christopher Gillham officiated.
The bearers were Derek and Dorian Edwards (brothers), Nigel Parlor (son-in-law) and Jim Outram (son-in-law).
There were immediate family flowers only, with donations in lieu for the Wales Air Ambulance, to Esme Utting, Garlandstone, Freystrop.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.
Mr D. G. L. Jenkins
Haverfordwest
The death occurred on November 23rd at Ridgeway Nursing Home, Llawhaden, of David George Llewellyn Jenkins, of Laburnum Grove, Haverfordwest. He was 83.
A native of Haverfordwest, he worked for almost 40 years in the pathology laboratory, firstly at the county hospital and then Withybush General Hospital as a laboratory technician, where he retired due to ill health.
He served in the Royal Navy during national service.
His interests included playing cricket for the former Thomarians Cricket Team for many years. He was initiated into the Freemasons in 1976 and was master of Cambrian Lodge in 1987, and was recently made an honorary member of Cambrian, Picton Castle and Mark Lodges.
He was a faithful member of St David’s Church, Prendergast and served as a sidesman for many years.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Joan Brock, Mary Webb, Nesta Twigg (sisters); Don Twigg, Doug John (brothers-in-law); Jonathan and Suzanne, Joanne and Darren, Sue and Graham, Michael and Ann, Barrie (nieces and nephews); James and Anna; Annie, Sarah, Gareth and George (great-nephews and nieces).
The funeral was held at St David’s Church, Prendergast, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth. Canon Geoffrey Gwyther and Rev Arthur Clarke officiated.
The bearers were Dawson James, Tudor Thomas, Jim Roberts, Jonathan Twigg (fellow masons) at the church, and Michael Webb, Jonathan Twigg, Darren Latham and Graham James (nephews) at the crematorium).
There were family flowers only with donations in lieu, if desired, for The Noah’s Ark Appeal and Winch Lane Surgery District Nurses to Mr J. Twigg, Westhill Grove, Portfield Gate, Haverfordwest.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by F. G. Rees and Sons, Haverfordwest.
Mrs F. A. E. Arnold
Western Super Mare (formerly of Pembroke Dock)
The death occurred on November 16th of Fay Agnes Evelyn Arnold, of Weston Super Mare and formerly of Pembroke Dock. She was 68.
Originally from Pennar, Fay’s first job was at the steel factory in Pembroke Dock. Fay married Pete in 1960 and worked in several jobs in Pembroke Dock.
When Pete stopped going to sea in 1974, they moved to Western Super Mare and Fay then worked in several nursing homes, looking after the old and frail and as a cook in the homes.
She retired as a supervisor cleaner at Weston College, when she was 65.
Fay’s main interest was her immediate family and also her larger family in Wales. She loved nature and absolutely loved frogs. Fay was happy in the garden, pottering about and loved shopping and dressing up.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Pete (husband); Geraldine, Julia and Michelle (daughters); Clint, Cheselle, Harry, Amelia, Brooke, Abigail and Henry (grandchildren); John, Harry and Dennis (brothers); Yvonne, Christine, Gloria and Denise (sisters); Peter, Adrian and Nick (sons-in-law); Mario and John (brother-in-law); Betty and Jo (sisters-in-law); John A (brother-in-law); Vera (sister-in-law); Susan (sister-in-law); Ted (brother-in-law); Michael, Karen, Lynda, Leanne, Alison, Helen, Robert, Louise, Debbie, Kevin, Ian, Timmy, Jenny, Andrew, Jamie, Jason, Nicky, Martin, Helen, Debra, Peter, Mark, Nicholas and Becky (nephews and nieces); Cynthia (aunt); Brindley (uncle); Derrick (cousin); Glenda (cousin), plus many friends from Pennar, Pembroke Dock and Weston Super Mare.
The funeral was held at St Patrick’s Church, Pennar, followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery and was officiated by Rev Nigel Thomas.
The bearers were Clint and Harry (grandsons), Mario (brother-in-law), Peter, Adrian and Nick (sons-in-law).
There were family flowers only with donations if so desired for the Western Super Mare Hospice to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and son, Pembroke Dock.
Mr I. G. Williams
Martletwy
The death occurred on November 9th at Withybush Hospital of Ivor Glyn Williams, of Bush Farm, Martletwy. He was 80.
Originally from Martletwy he was a farmer and seed agent, but retired 20 years ago due to ill health.
His main interests were playing cricket for Lawrenny Cricket Club and he also followed the South Pembrokeshire Hunt.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Eileen (wife); Desmond (son); Jenny (sister-in-law); Maureen and Michael (niece and husband); John and Catherine (nephew and wife); Paul, Ceri, Emma and Mark (great-nephews and niece); Tommy and Clytha (aunt and uncle-in-law); Elsie (aunt-in-law) plus numerous cousins and friends.
The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn crematorium, and was officiated by Father Paul Davies.
The bearers were Denny Richards, Hugh Richards, Elwyn Court, David Cole, Derek Hughes and Roy Eynon.
There were family flowers only with donations if desired for Diabetes Cymru to E. C. Thomas and Son, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Cafodd ei dwyn i fyny yn ferch Postgwyn Eglwyswrw a threuliodd bore oes yn aelod yng Nghapel Pontcynnon, Ffynnongroes, cyn priodi a mynd i fyw yn Efailwen, a symud wedyn i Langolman, lle treuliodd gweddill ei hoes.
Wrth ymgartrefi yno ddaeth yn aelod i Gapel Llandeilo, lle fuodd yn ffyddlon i’w ffydd gref drwy gymryd rhan flaenllaw yn dysgu plant sawl cenhedlaeth yn yr Ysgol Sul, gan eu paratoi yn drylwyr ar gyfer y Gymanfa Bwnc, y Gymanfa Ganu, ac hefyd ar gyfer y cyrddau plant misol a gynhaliwyd.

Mr J. Goff
Pembroke Dock
The death of James (Jimmy) Goff, of Lewis Street, Pembroke Dock, occurred at Withybush Hospital on November 20th. He was 67.
Originally from Dundee, he worked for MPS and companies that took on contracts on jetties for 35 years, before retiring two years ago.
He was in the army for six years and also the merchant navy.
His main interest later in life was bowls and in his younger years he was a football referee. He also carried the RNA standard for many years.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Alice (wife); Teresa and Serena (daughters); Gordy and Neil (sons); Nicola and Trisha (daughters-in-law); Mark (son-in-law); Leam, Jamie, Callum, Natasha, Ben and Jak (grandchildren); Sheila, Michelle and Trisha (sisters-in-law); David (brother-in-law).
The funeral was held at St John’s Church, Narberth and was officiated by Rev Nigel Thomas.
The bearers were Jason Beynon, Gareth Evans, John Langley, David Williams, Martin Robinson and Roy Brazier.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, Pembroke Dock.
Mr D. V. Martin
Haverfordwest
The death of David Victor Martin occurred at his home in Hawthorn Rise, Haverfordwest on December 3rd. He was 54.
He was born in Milford Haven to the late Vic and Edie Martin, formerly of Greville Road.
At the age of 15, David went to work as an apprentice at Devonport dockyard, Plymouth, before returning to Milford Haven RNA Depot in 1973 after his marriage to Monica.
They had two daughters Elissa and Natalie.
After the closure of Milford Depot he was transferred to Trecwn until its closure in 1994. After 12 months David’s health took a turn for the worse, but he spent another 13 valuable years with his family.
In his younger years David was a keen walker, had a passion for wildlife and was a great lover of music. David enjoyed reading books and will be remembered for his dry sense of humour.
He was a devoted father to Elissa and Natalie, a caring grandad to Chardonay and Che and also a best friend to his wife Monica.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Monica (wife); Elissa and Christopher (daughter and son-in-law); Natalie and Dean (daughter and partner); Chardonay and Che (grandchildren); Mr and Mrs Sparkes (father and mother-in-law); John and Marie (brother and wife); Richard (brother); Christine and Toni (sister and partner); Hilary (sister); Sylvia and Trevor (sister and brother-in-law); uncle Norman and Morene; Jason, Gavin, Adrian and David (nephews); Scott, Kieron, Jay, Curtis and Joel (great-nephews); Caroline, Sarah-Jane, Amanda, Claire, Natalie and Loretta (nieces); Imogen, Cara, Jaime and Lily (great-nieces), plus friends too numerous to mention.
The funeral took place at St Martin’s Church, with interment at City Road Cemetery and was officiated by Canon Bowen.
The bearers were Christopher Roach (son-in-law); Dean Fryer (daughter’s partner); Lenard Gale (good friend); Gavin Howells; Adrian Knapp, and David Knapp (nephews).
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
Mr N. K. Lewis
Haverfordwest
The funeral of Kevin Lewis, of Scotchwell View, Haverfordwest took place at St David’s Church, Prendergast, Haverford-west. He died at home on November 28th, aged 60.
Born in Haverfordwest, he worked at Ansells Brewery for many years, and recently devoted his time to caring for his elderly mother.
His small amount of leisure time was spent enjoying visits from his family and a few happy hours with his friends at the services club. He was also a keen Welsh rugby supporter.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Martin, Lynsey and Brooke (son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter); Tracey (daughter); Eileen Lewis (mother); Aden and June, Bertie and Josie (brothers and sisters-in-law); Babs and Joe (sister and brother-in-law); Ann (sister) and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
The funeral was officiated by Canon Geoffrey Gwyther and the bearers were Martin Lewis, Aden Lewis, Jonathan Barlow and Terry Barlow.
Interment followed at Prendergast Cemetery.
