Mr M. A. Farmer
Milford Haven
The death occurred on June 21st of Mark Anthony Farmer, of Vaynor Road, Milford Haven. He was 47.
He worked on various refineries as a mechanical assistant.
He loved pigeons, going rabbiting, fishing and also playing darts. His favourite pastime was having a pint, and watching football, being an Everton supporter.

The service was held at his home followed by interment at Thornton Cemetery and was officiated by Canon John Davies.
Bearers were Alan, Ian, Dennis, Shane and Michael.

Mr J. D. Richards
Fishguard
The funeral of John Devonald Richards was held on June 30th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.
The son of Lenora Eliza (Nora) and Tom Richards, he was born and brought up in Fishguard.
After a short spell in the Royal Navy, John trained as a teacher and returned to Fishguard after first teaching in Birmingham. He was headmaster of both Llanychllwydog and Dinas primary schools until he retired from the latter at the age of 55.
John was an active deacon of Hermon Baptist Chapel for many years. He was also very involved with senior citizens and Age Concern and was an enthusiastic member of the Fishguard and Goodwick Bowls Club for more than 20 years.
The principal mourners were: Vivian (wife); Gail, Andrew and Carol (children); Joshua, Kate, Emma, Joely, Jessica and Owen (grandchildren); Pat Watkins (sister-in-law); Owen and Nansi Morgan (cousin and wife); Mair and Roy Morris (cousin and husband); John and Olwen Roberts (close friends).
The funeral was officiated by Revs Carl Williams and John Roberts.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Alzheimers Society, 16 Columbus Walk, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4BY.

Lampeter Velfrey
St Peter’s Church, Lampeter Velfrey, was filled to capacity with mourners paying their respects on June 12th to Dean Mason, of 9 Marlais View, Lampeter Velfrey, who died on June 2nd, aged 26, while on holiday with his family.
Dean attended playschool at Ysgol Feithrin in Bloomfield, Narberth, and later went to Tavernspite CP School. He then attended Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, Whitland.
At the age of 16, Dean studied in construction plant engineering at Reaseheath College, Nantwhich.
On returning home he began work within the family business. Dean’s achievements involving driving were many. Aged ten, he competed in a You Bet competition on a mini digger cracking eggs without touching the egg cups. Then at the age of 12 he received a driver of the year award from Pel-job.
Machine manufacturers thought highly of Dean, and he visited Belgium, France and Korea to test drive prototype machinery.
He was a proud family man. Having met Shauna they got engaged on Christmas Day 2006. Dean, Shauna and Teagan then set up home in Marlais View, Lampeter Velfrey in June 2007. The couple then married on May 31st 2008.
Dean travelled to the wedding in the company lorry; the same lorry was used for Dean to travel to the funeral service.
Shaylyn Ann was born in February 2009. Being so proud and happy in family life Dean took to fatherhood naturally.
Outside of family and work, Dean enjoyed a number of hobbies, most of which involved engines. This began at 12 when he had his first mini auto grass car.
Dean competed in tractor pulling, along with his dad and brother, and they travelled all over the country.

The service was held at St Peter’s Church, Lampeter Velfrey prior to interment in the church cemetery.
The bearers were Jack Mason, Lloyd Phillips and Neville Davies (cousins); Thomas Dinan (brother-in-law) Liam Wright and Elgan Rees (friends).

Haverfordwest
Robert David Jones, of Jockey Fields, Haverford-west, died at Withybush Hospital on June 19th. He was 35.
His main interests were listening to music and watching soap operas on TV.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Ian (father); Iris (nannie); Jack and Moyra, Joyce and Tony, May (aunties and uncles); Jane and family, Sarah, Lyn and family, David, Jess and family, Stephen, Nicky and family, Rebecca, Kevin and partners, Terence and Sue, Mike, Maureen, Tom, Maureen and family (cousins) and other cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was officiated by Rev Geoffrey Eynon. The bearers were Jack James, Lyn Davies, Lee Jenkins and Bruce Mathias.

The death occurred on June 23rd of Jean France (nee Phillips), of Heol Derwen, Merlins Bridge, Haverfordwest. She was 46.

Mr M. Edwards
Staffordshire (formerly of Haverfordwest)
Bretby Crematorium, Burton-on-Trent was filled to capacity on June 24th for the funeral of Michael Edwards. He was 70.
Born in Prendergast, Haverfordwest he was the eldest son of the late Eric and Dilys Edwards, Scotchwell View. Although he had moved away from the town more than 50 years ago, he was extremely proud of his Welsh routes and in particular Haverfordwest.
Michael was educated at Prendergast Boys and Haverfordwest Grammar Schools. He was a good all-round sportsman and excelled in rugby and was a member of the grammar school 1st XV. On leaving school he worked as a trainee manager with Woolworths, Haverfordwest. Aged 18 he did his national service with the Royal Artilery. The majority of his service was spent at the British Army Garrison, Hong Kong.
After his national service he returned to Woolworths for a short period and then moved to Rolls Royce, Derby. He then worked in the brewing industry for Bass Plc for more than 30 years. Shortly after joining Bass he met his wife Shirley, and they married in 1964. In the late 1980s he was appointed managing director of Bass, Burton-on-Trent.
Retiring in the early 1990s, Michael continued supporting charitable and other organisations in the Staffordshire area.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Shirley (wife); Stephanie and Craig (daughter and son); Michelle and David (daughter-in-law and son-in-law); Lauren, Georgia, Lara and Lewis (grandchildren); brother Ken, Peter and Tim.

Mr H. Taylor
Pentlepoir
HERBERT Taylor died at Withybush Hospital on June 20th after a short illness.
Known as Bert, he was born into a mining community in Upton, west Yorkshire in 1933.
Unlike his father and two elder brothers, he was not keen to work in the local colliery and when he left school at the age of 14 he worked as a brick maker at Upton Brickworks.
After four years in the brickworks, Bert joined the Royal Air Force Police (RAFP). He was posted to RAF Foley, where Roch Gate is now. On his first outing to Haverfordwest he met Prudence (Prue) John, of Spittal, and after a whirlwind romance they married in 1953 and recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Bert fell in love with Pembrokeshire and five years later joined the Pembrokeshire Police (later Dyfed-Powys Police), serving in Haverfordwest, Neyland, Kilgetty, Tenby and latterly with special branch on the ports at Pembroke Dock and Fishguard. Bert retired from the police in 1986, aged 53.
Bert was a keen gardener and pigeon fancier, but his first love was beekeeping. In 1968 he obtained two beehives, and this eventually led to 80, which took up all of the couple’s spare time. Bert went on to become a national judge, examiner and much respected authority in the bee fraternity.
In Bert’s own words he had a ‘dammed good life’ and his keen sense of humour and positive outlook on life made him popular with all he came into contact with.
He leaves to mourn his wife Prue; Robert and Frances, Paul and Susan (sons and partners); grandchildren Jemma, Adam, Sophie and Amy and elder sister Mary.
Unable to attend were Bernie and Sheila (brother-in-law and sister-in-law).
Bearers were Bert Force, Ian Richards, Richard Evans (ex-colleagues and friends), and Adam Taylor (grandson).
The funeral service was officiated by Stewart Treharne, and a eulogy was given by Ian Richards (friend).
There were family flowers only, with donations to Cancer Research being sent to E. C. Thomas and Son, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside, Narberth, SA67 8LT, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

Pembroke Dock
The death occurred at South Pembrokeshire Hospital on July 4th of Colleen Mary Jones, of Bush Street, Pembroke Dock. She was 81.
She was born and bred in Pembroke Dock and was a mother and housewife. Her interests included bingo, car boot sales and gardening. She attended St Mary’s Church, Pembroke Dock.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners are: William Kenneth Jones (husband); Alan, Kenneth and Paul (sons).
The service was held at St Mary’s Church, Pembroke Dock and was officiated by Father Patrick Fitzgerald. The bearers were Alan Jones, Kenneth Jones, Paul Jones and Tony Stockford.
There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu for ward ten Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.

Mr G. F. Picton
Neyland
A large congregation gathered at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on June 23rd for the funeral service of Graham Francis Picton, of Sidney Webb Close, Neyland. He was 55.
A devoted grampy, Graham loved nothing more than taking Georgia, Fletcher and Finlay on their Sunday days out.
Graham’s great passion was badminton and he coached Neyland junior badminton club. Also a big Scarlets follower, Graham and Jill loved to watch games whenever they had the opportunity.
It was a great comfort to the family to see so many relatives and friends attend the funeral to pay their respects.
The principal mourners and family left to mourn are: Jillian (wife); Colin and Natalie (son and daughter-in-law); Georgia, Fletcher and Finlay (grandchildren); Lindsey, James and Thomas (step children); Derek and Jenny, Wally and Irene, Robert and Vicky (brother and sisters-in-law); Margaret and Monty, Maureen and Jimmy, Eunice and David, Betty and Ralph (sisters and brothers-in-law); Marg Picton (aunt); Dilys Harries (mother-in-law), along with other family members too numerous to mention.
The bearers were James and Thomas Arran, Jonathan Mayhew, Scott Gregory, Neil Davies and Arthur Arran.

Haverfordwest
The death occurred at Withybush Hospital of Brenda Olive King, of Hawthorn Rise, Haverford-west, on April 15th. She was 60.
Originally from Crosskeys, Gwent, before her marriage she worked in an electrical retailers factory. After her marriage in 1969, she became a housewife, mother and grandmother.
Her main interest was her children and grandchildren and she also enjoyed holidaying in caravan parks three or four times a year.
She attended Calvary Church in Trafalgar Road.

Mrs I. W. M. Rees
Pendine
The death of Ivy Rees, of Llanmiloe Estate, Pendine, occurred at the West Wales General Hospital on June 10th. She was 84.
Born at Underhill, Marros, she lived for most of her life in the Pendine area.
Ivy married Frank in 1944 and were together until he died in 1974. Some years later she met and married Doug, and they spent many happy years together until his death in 1998.
Prior to her stay in hospital, she had been a resident of Y Garreg Lwyd Care Home, St Clears.
A family service was followed by the funeral service at St Lawrence Church, Marros, where Ivy had been a faithful member and churchwarden for many years.
The service was officiated by Rev Paul Nash.
A tribute was read by Eddie Jones and a poem was read by Melanie (granddaughter).
The principal mourners are: Phil and Jenny (son and daughter-in-law); Karen, Alan, Melanie, Phillip, Mark and Mandy (grandchildren); Ceri, Bethan, Becky and Oliver (great grandchildren); Alwyn and Mary (brother and sister-in-law); Val, Ted, John, Christine, Keith, Helen, Susan, Vince, Steven, Louise, Mark, Melanie, Martyn and Alison (nieces and nephews); John and Winnie (stepson and daughter-in-law); Andrew (grandson), many cousins friends and neighbours too numerous to mention. Stephen (grandson) was unable to attend.
The bearers were Mark Barraclough, Alan Haynes, Phillip Roberts (grandsons) and Mark Lewis (nephew).

Lamphey
Gladys May Richards (nee Johns), of Lamphey, Pembroke died at Glangwili Hospital on June 22nd. She was 71.
She was known as May and was predeceased by her daughter Christine in 1966 and also her eldest sister Betty in 1975.
She joined the Co-op in Neyland from school before transferring to Pembroke Dock for ten years.
May played cricket as a teenager for Neyland ladies and once swam from Neyland to Hobbs Point in Pembroke Dock.
She completed more than 20 years as a contracts officer at Pembroke Power Station before retiring due to ill-health in 1993.
She was a long-term member of Lamphey women’s institute and regularly attended Lamphey Church. Devoted to her family, she was at her happiest when in the company of her grandchildren.
She had been a dialysis patient since 1993 and had kidney transplants in 1996 and 2000.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Henry Richards (husband of 49 years); David Richards (son); Hannah Richards, Lauren Richards, William Richards-Baldwin (grandchildren); Margaret and Brian, Louvain and Mel, Sylvia and Michael, Alison and Jonathan (sisters and husbands); Robert and Shirley (brother and wife); plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The service was held at Lamphey Church and was officiated by Venerable Graham Davies. The bearers were Paul Charles, Martin Charles, Ian Charles (nephews) and Brian Thomas (brother-in-law).
There were family flowers only, with donations for the dialysis unit, Glangwili Hospital, to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6UR.

Mr D. B. Bancroft
Tenby
The death of Dennis Britten Bancroft, formerly of Kemendine, Bridge Street, Tenby, occurred on June 25th at Park House Court Nursing Home. He was 87.
A native of Tenby, Dennis was predeceased in 2008 by his wife Ann.
They had been married for 59 years.
He leaves to mourn: John and Susan, Patrick (sons and daughter-in-law); Janine, David, Zoe, Jessica and Max (grandchildren) and Tony Mason (cousin).
After war service in the Royal Navy, he returned to Tenby to take over the family firm of estate agents and auctioneers, Frank B. Mason and Company. For the previous 30 years the firm had been run by his grandmother.
Dennis enjoyed a successful 17 years with the firm. He was also secretary of the Tenby Lifeboat Station from 1950 to 1963, and a past president of the Rotary Club of Tenby.
In 1963 he moved to the Midlands, and the couple developed a love for the inland waterways. They spent nearly 25 years cruising the canals of England on their boat, Sir Benfro.
They returned to Tenby in 1992 and settled as part of the harbour community. Dennis was a keen bowler, and was a member of both Tenby and Pembroke Dock bowling clubs.
The funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on July 5th.
Donations in lieu of flowers for the RNLI Tenby are being sent to Mr Wyn Griffiths, Hafod-Coed, Seascape, Tenby, SA70 8JL.
The funeral was arranged by W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons, Tenby.
Mr H. James
Goodwick
Hugh James, of Carngwili, Goodwick died on June 8th at Withybush Hospital.
After leaving school, Hugh worked at the Goodwick Brickworks as a diesel fitter for 21 years. He then went on to set up his own building business which has been carried on by his two sons.
Later Hugh opened Dyfrryn Nurseries, a garden centre where he could enjoy his interest in horticulture.
The funeral service took place on June 15th at Llanwnda Cemetery.
The principal mourners are: Marlene (wife); Debbie and Dorian, Sarah and Andrew, Victoria and Tom (daughters and sons-in-law); Richard and Ann-Marie, Gary and Carol (sons and daughters-in-law); Tom, Huw and Bethan, Lisa, Kelly, William, Hannah, Jessica and Lloyd, Lionie, Stacey, Nathan, Katie and Lewis, Alys, James and Grace, Amana and Daya (grandchildren); Glenys (sister-in-law); Brian (nephew); Shirley (niece); Rosemary and Timmy (niece and husband), together with other close family and friends.
The bearers were Richard James, Gary James, William James, Dorian Williams, Andrew Lewis and Tom Kinver.

Mr F. D. Johns
Llanwrda
Frank Douglas Johns died at Withybush Hospital on June 6th, aged 81.
He was born in the school house, Llanwrda, the son of the local headmaster, and was one of four children.
A dear brother to Lynne, Len and the late Gareth, he was a loved uncle and great uncle.
Frank enjoyed playing rugby and cricket in his younger days. He enjoyed good music, and the male voice choir.
He served his national service in the RAF. He started his working career at a builders merchants in Cardiff, retiring at Jewsons, Prendergast, Haverford-west.
He lived with his sister Lynne for 15 years at Greenfield Close.
Lynne’s granddaughters Emma and Sian looked on him as another grandpa.
He loved printing and made some pictures which he gave to friends a various places.
The well attended funeral took place on June 12th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. Rev Nicholas Cale (Wiston) and Rev Roger Thomas (Crymych) officiated.
Fiona Thomas read the eulogy and Eirlys Charles introduced the hymns.
There were family flowers only, with donations to Shalom House or Paul Sartori being received by Evans, 18 Greenfield Close, Cardigan Road, Haverfordwest, SA61 2QJ.
Eddie Davies, Llanwrda, carried out the funeral arrangements.
