Mrs R. Rees

Mathry

The funeral took place on Thursday, July 1st, of Mrs Ruby Rees, of Bryn-y-Môr, Mathry, who died on Wednesday, June 23rd, at Bush House Nursing Home, Pembroke.

Ruby was the beloved wife of the late Dai.

The funeral took place at Berea Congregational Chapel and was followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth. The service was officiated by Rev Geoffrey Eynon.

Principal mourners were: Pauline (daughter), Martin and Delia (son and daughter-in-law), Bethan, David, Simon, Katy, Jamie, Angharad and Jon (grandchildren), Gemma, Ben, Harry and Siôn (great-grandchildren), Edna Edwards, Ivy Davies (sisters), Ivy Price, Nan James Mrs E. Rowlands (sisters-in-law).

Unable to attend was Sally Phillips (sister).

The bearers were Michael Wilcox, Med Barker, Gareth Price and Alan Price.

Flowers for the chapel were received from Ruth and Gordon, Helen and Michael, Mary and John, Sheila and Hughie, Grace and Richard.

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu if desired, for the Alzheimer’s Society to Paul Jenkins and Sons, Feidr Castell, Fishguard, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs M. Joyce

St Davids

Margo Joyce, of Maes yr Hedydd, St Davids died peacefully at her home on June 29th after a long illness. She was 61.

The funeral was held at Tabernacle Chapel, St Davids on Tuesday, July 6th.

Rev William Owen officiated at the chapel and afterwards at the graveside in St Davids Cemetery.

Margo was the beloved wife of Ted and a dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Jason and Bethan, Gavin and Rachel.

She was mamgu to Jasmine, Ben and Ella and also a sister-in-law to Phil and Pauline.

The service was attended by many other relatives and friends.

The bearers were John Evans, Barry Owen, Leslie Owen and Tony Pearce.

Donations in lieu of flowers for the Multiple Sclerosis HOPE Therapy Centre at Neyland, may be sent to W. G. Bernard Mathias, Funeral Directors, 62 New Street, St Davids.

Robeston Wathen

The funeral took place recently at St Mary’s Church, Tenby, of Adam James Chiffi.

There were family flowers only, with donations, if desired, made payable to Help for Heroes, which can be sent to Messrs Rossiter and Sons Ltd, funeral directors, The Old Rectory, The Norton, Tenby, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mr E. Pratt

Mynachlogddu

The death occurred of Ernie Pratt on July 17th at his home in Mynachlogddu. He was 79.

Formerly of Kent, he spent his early years helping out on his grandparents’ farm before enlisting for national service between 1950-1953, serving in Egypt and Cyprus.

He was then a bus driver for many years for the Maidstone and District Bus Company, before becoming a lorry driver until his retirement.

He spent most of his days in his workshop either repairing vehicles or inventing gadgets.

Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Vera (wife); Alan and Anita (son and daughter); James, Nikki and Michael (grandchildren); Jimmy and Fran (brother and wife); Tony and Ann (brother and partner); Cyril (brother); Joan and Tony (sister and husband); Pat and Mick (sister and husband); Heather and John (sister and husband), plus friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.

Unable to attend were grandchildren Lyndsey and husband Steven, Ryan and Erica. Also unable to attend were Jean and Vera (sisters); and Tommy (brother).

The service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was led by Rosie Taylor (humanist).

The bearers were Alan (son); James (grandson); Nikki (grandson) and Michael (grandson).

There were family flowers only with donations, if so desired, for the Paul Sartori Foundation and the local district nurses of Crymych to E.C. Thomas Son, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs N. A Lewis

Llanddowror

The funeral took place on July 17th of Nesta Adeline Lewis (nee Roblin), of Pencoed Farm, Llanddowror, St Clears.

She died peacefully after a long illness at Plas-y-Dderwen Nursing Home, Carmarthen.

Nesta was a native of Maes-Y-Bont, Crosshands. She moved to Woodhouse in 1941 and married Owen from Pencoed Farm in 1951, where she farmed all her working life and raised six children.

She was predeceased by her husband Owen in 2002.

Her main interests were her family, Tabernacle Chapel and Llanddowror WI.

Family left to mourn are: Glyn and Bethan (son and daughter-in-law); Huw and Janet (son and daughter-in-law); Mair and Gerald (daughter and son-in-law); Bethan and Derrick (daughter and son-in-law); Delyth and Roddy (daughter and son-in-law); Dewi (son); Anthony, Joanne, Robert, Sarah, Christopher, James, Yvonne, Lorraine, Sioned, Simon, Elliot, Sian, Ceri, Angharad, Rhodri (grandchildren); Betsi (great-granddaughter) and Wyndham (brother-in-law).

Unable to attend were Donald (brother) and Wyndham (brother-in-law).

The funeral was held at Trinity Chapel, St Clears followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. Rev Rhodri Glyn Thomas officiated.

The bearers were Glyn Lewis, Huw Lewis, Dewi Lewis, Gerald Hooper, Derrick Wilson, and Roddy Thomas.

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu for Coach and Horse Surgery, St Clears, which may be sent to Peter Evans funeral directors, Plashett, Pendine Road, Laugharne, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs O. J. Williams

Milton

The funeral of Olwen J. Williams, of Upper Welston, Milton, took place on June 22nd at St Mary’s Church, Carew.

She died on Sunday, June 13th, aged 89.

The service was officiated by Rev Thelma Barber, and followed by interment at Carew Churchyard.

The principal mourners were: David and Philip (sons); Kathleen (sister); Jack and Ray (brother and sister-in-law); Margaret and Tom (sister and brother-in-law); Sheila (sister-in-law); Bryan and Olive (brother-in-law and wife); Dorothy and John (sister-in-law and husband), together with nephews, nieces and other relatives too numerous to mention.

The bearers were John Young, Hugh Richards, Michael Lewis and Richard Prout (nephews).

The organist was Sheila Lewis.

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu for St Mary’s Church, Carew, or the Macmillan Nurses, which are being received by John Roberts and Sons, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, who carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs A. M. Reynolds

Fishguard (Formerly of Llanrhian)

The funeral of Annie Mary Reynolds was held on Tuesday, July 13th at Parc Gwyn Crematorium. She was 96.

Born in Lower Moor, St Davids and working as a maid and cook in her younger years, she met and married her late husband Henry James Reynolds, who predeceased her some years ago.

She then moved to Llanrhian to farm alongside her husband and keep visitors to the area.

She retired from farming and moved to Llain Las in Fishguard before moving to St Teresa’s Rest Home some 18 months ago.

Family left to mourn are: Alan and Gwenda (son and daughter-in-law); Richard and Michelle, Martin and Craig, Julie and Peter, Emma (grandsons, granddaughters and partners); Adam and Ceri (great-grandchildren).

The bearers were Richard and Martin (grandsons); Peter Bowen (granddaughter’s husband); David Turner and Meyrick Reynolds (nephews); Gerwyn Davies (family friend).

The funeral was officiated by Rev Geoffrey Eynon.

Unable to attend were her sister Mrs Enid Jones, of St Davids; Mrs Eifion Reynolds (sister-in-law); Hayden Lawrence (brother-in-law), Rev Aled Jenkins, Noddfa Newton, nephews and nieces too numerous to mention.

There were family flowers only, with donations to St Teresa’s Rest Home being received by Paul Jenkins and Sons, Fishguard, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mrs S. M. James

Milford Haven

The death occurred peacefully at the home of Mrs Sylvia May James, Coombes Drive, Milford Haven, on July 26th.

She was the devoted wife of Harold and also leaves to mourn Wendy and John (daughter and son-in-law); Neil and Caroline (grandson and wife); Eleanor (great-granddaughter); Trevor (brother); Mabel and Vesta (sisters-in-law) plus her nieces and nephews.

The funeral took place at Hamilton Court Funeral Home on July 30th and was officiated by Rev Martyn Evans.

The bearers at Milford Haven cemetery were Steven Hull, Richard Evans, Steven Barrett and Gareth Barrett.

Mrs M. L. Pollock

Haverfordwest

Margaret Pollock, of Haverfordwest, died at home on July 14th. She was 75.

She was known by many as a very caring, heart-felt woman.

She loved playing darts in her earlier years, but was mostly known for her love, and more often than not luck, at bingo.

Margaret was very much a family orientated person and she will be deeply missed by all.

Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Emlyn (partner); David and Robert (sons); Anne, Jayne and Tracy (daughters); all in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, family, neighbours and friends.

The funeral was officiated by Rev Paul Mackness. The service was held at St Martins Church, Haverfordwest, prior to interment in Prendergast Cemetery.

The bearers were: David Pollock, Andrew Beaty (grandsons); Russell Murray, and Paul Thomas (son-in-laws).

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu for the Winch Lane District Nurses Trust Fund, being sent to Julie Davies, District Nurse Team Leader, Winch Lane Surgery, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Sons, Haverfordwest.

Mrs M. Robertson

Milford Haven

The death occurred on August 1st at Withybush Hospital of Margaret Robertson (nee Hover), of Westhill Avenue, Milford Haven. She was 70.

As a native of Milford Haven, her early life was spent doing various jobs, but she later worked mainly in catering at Texaco and at Castle Mead Hotel, as well as at wedding and party venues.

Her main interests were her family, especially her 11 grandchildren, to whom she was devoted.

She was an excellent machine knitter, quilter and cook.

She also enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends on her computer.

Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: George Robertson (husband); Paul Robertson (son); Andrew Robertson (son); James and Leanne Robertson (son and wife); Ashleigh, Emma, Bettsy, Rosie, Alice, Alisdair, Craig, David, Ben, Alex, Kyle (grandchildren); Kath (sister); Cynthia (sister); Julia and Susan; in-laws, cousins, friends, colleagues and neighbours too numerous to mention.

The funeral was held at St Katharine’s Church, Milford Haven followed by interment at Milford Haven cemetery, and was officiated by Canon John Davies.

The bearers were Paul Robertson, Andrew Robertson, James Robertson and Alisdair Robertson.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to ward ten, Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons Ltd, Milford Haven.
