Alexander Gerald Brawn Milford Haven Alexander, eledest son of Roger (Gerry) and Rosemarie Brawn of Ramsey Drive, Westhill, Milford Haven, was born with multiple physical and cerebal problems which he bore with great resolve and cheerfulness, at his birth he was originally given only two weeks to live, he survived to the amazing age of 24 years, eight months.
He was a pupil at Portfield Special School in Haverfordwest from the very young age of two until he was 20. He then attended the Social Activity Centre at Portfield on a daily basis until his present illness prevented him from doing so, where he made many friends.
In 1988 he went with his parents on an Easter Pilgrimage to the shrine at Lourdes, France and in 2001 went to Disneyland Florida.
He liked listening to music, taking part in horse riding for the disabled and being included in group activities, especially 10 pin bowling where he loved the sound of the pins being knocked over.
He was a familiar figure in Milford Haven where he was taken for long walks in all weathers by his dedicated carers and personal assistants Jean Jones and Diana Lewis who have been with Alexander for many years, their help to provide a better quality of life for him and grew to love him in their own ways just as his own parents and his brother James did. He had a passion for swimming which gave him freedom from the constraints of his wheelchair.
After a private family service at his home, there followed a well attended gathering at Bethesda Chapel, Neyland, where a service was conducted by Pastor Hugh Michael of Pembroke Dock to celebrate the life of Alexander, tributes were read by his brother James and Jason Milne (cousin), a medley of his favourite music was played, organised by Ian McCaffrey (cousin) and Wayne Morse.
His aunt Vanessa carried a large framed photo of Alexander into the chapel behind the immediate family, after the service he was laid to rest at Honeyborough Cemetery where coloured balloons were released as a token of remembrance.
The bearers were Jimmy and Jason Milne, Martin McGeown and Ian McCaffrey.
The principal mourners were Roger (Gerry) and Rosemarie Brawn (parents); James Brawn (brother); Jimmy and Kathleen Milne, Ruth and Bryan McCaffrey, Vanessa and Jimmy McGeown (uncles and aunts); Jason and Jo-Ann Milne, Martin McGeown and Biana Smith, Ian McCaffrey and Natalie, Helen and Ben Harries, Jay and John Adams, Rosanna and Simon Smith-Wrench, Richard Brawn, Janice Jackson (cousins and their families); Audrey and Gareth Jones (great aunt).
Other mourners were Jean Jones, Sally and Phillips, Diana Lewis, Lena Sauro, Anna Rees, Sally Hicks, Terry and June Weeks, John and Kath McGeown, and Nicola McCarthy also many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Unable to attend were Ronald and Eileen (uncle and aunt); Dirk, Scott, Rhondaleen and their families from Canada (cousins); Isabel and Derrick (aunt and uncle and families); Maureen and Audrey (great aunts); Ann Skeen (godmother); Catherine, Alison, Shelly, Shalka, Lesley, Katrina, Andrew, Poppy and Rocky (cousins). Alisha, Sofia, Isabella, Abigail, Haven and Eivissa.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E C Thomas and Son, Stepaside.
Thomas J G Guarneri Haverfordwest A large gathering of relatives, friends and neighbours attended the funeral of Tom.
Tom passed away peacefully on July 11th at Withybush Hospital after a short illness. He was in his 83rd year, and leaves a loving wife Betty, they had been married for 59 years, a dear son Martin and sister Pearl.
Tom was born and brought up in Freystrop and educated in freystrop School, Barn Street Top School, and Haverfordwest Grammar School. On leaving school Tom started work in local government which he did for 40 years taking early retirement in August 1986. Tom did 2 1/2 years national service and finished off in Sandhurst Military College.
In 1944 Tom was awarded the life saving parchment of the Royal Humane Society for rescuing a drowning friend from the River Cleddau at Little Milford. He was in the boy scouts at the time.
Tom loved his garden and kept it next and tidy. He and Betty also loved coach holidays, and visited many places abroad with friends. Both were also faithful members of St Thomas Church, Haverfordwest.
Cremation took place at Parc Gwyn on July 19th when the service was taken by Father Paul Mackness and Canon Derek Evans.
The principal mourners were Betty (wife); Martin (son); Pearl (sister), plus nieces, nephews and cousins Nicolette, Julie, Nigel, Janet, Graham, David, Hilda, Rhys, Primrose, Keith and very good friends.
There were family flowers only with donations if so desired could be made to The Manager, Ward 12 Trust Fund, Withybush Hospital.

Mrs Irene Gwendoline Slee Narberth Mrs Irene Gwendoline Slee of Northfield Road, Narberth, passed away at Withybush Hospital after a short stay on July 13. He was 86.
Originally from Liverpool she was a housewife and mother. She moved around the country frequently in mid and south Wales due to her husband, Wyndham Charles Slee's job with the police force.
She served with the WRENS and was based at Portsmouth and took message from command control to give the go ahead for the D-Day landings.
Her main interests were her family, knitting and being a member of mothers union (over 50 years). She was a regular church goer with her husband who was a church warden.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners were Derek Slee, Michael Slee (sons); Carol Mansell and Pam Robinson (daughters); Mary Anne Slee, Rosemary Slee, Geoff Mansell and Nigel Robinson (son-in-law and daughter-in-law); Gwyn Slee, Neil Slee, Richard Slee, Sian Slee, Graham Slee, Lisa Gore, Gareth Mansell, Kate Robinson, Jessica Robinson (grandchildren); Rhys Slee, Fflur Slee, Dylan Slee, Scarlett Slee, Sebastian Slee, Imogen Slee, Rhys Gore (great grandchildren).
The service was held at St Johns Church, Pembroke Dock followed by cremation ar Parc Gwyn, Narberth. It was officiated by Rev Nigel Thomas and the bearers were Gwyn Slee, Graham Slee, Richard Slee and Gareth Mansell (grandsons).

Mrs Margaret (Peggy) Mathias Jeffreyston (formerly of Cresselly) Mrs Margaret (Peggy) Mathias of Jeffreyston and formerly of Moor Farm, Cresselly) passed away at her home on August 3rd. She was 84.
Originally from Cresselly, Peggy has always lived and worked on Moor Farm, Cresselly, together with her husband Binley and family until their retirement and then they moved to Jeffreyston.
Peggy was a member of Cresselly WI. Her main interest was her family especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved animals and farming the land. Peggy was a loyal member of Bethel Baptist Chapel, Loveston where she attended so faithfully every Sunday, also she used to attend all the chapel activities and take an active role. Chapel was a very important part of her life.

Mrs PM Owen Formerly Of Returno Farm Narberth Megan Owen formerly of Returno Farm died peacefully at Ridgeway Nursing Home on 20th July 2011, she was 84. She lived at Returno Farm, Narberth from the age of 3 but due to ill health moved to Ridgeway Nursing Home in 2007. She was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 2033. They had five children, David, Gwyneth, Geoffrey, Haydn and Derek, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The will always remember her home cooking and bread making and her enjoyment of trying new recopies. Megan also enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening.
A large gathering of family and friends attended a service of celebration at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on July 27th. Mr A. R. Harries Dinas Alfred Royden (Roy) Harries, of Spencer Buildings, Dinas, formerly of Castell Farm, died on July 22nd at Withybush Hospital. He was 74.
He was the son of the late Ieuan and Marie-Anne Harries. His brothers Jack and Ron had predeceased him.
The bearers were Berian Edwards, Graham Lewis, Tommy Mathias and Ralph Nicholas.

Mr Ralph Llewellyn Monkton The death occurred at Withybush Hospital on July 21st of Mr Ralph Llewellyn of School Terrace, Monkton. He was 71.
Originally from St Ishmaels he served his apprenticeship as a mechanic, but found his vocation as a welder. He worked on the Esso refinery, Texaco (then Regent) and then travelled far and wide for local farms. He was a director of Linear Construction, his work took him to many parts of the UK for Jenkins and Davies, Ledwood, Inter, Mainport, Kier's and many others. He worked abroad in Holland, Germany, Spain, Rio-De-Janeiro. An industrial accident curtailed his skills and he became a wedling inspector, his knowledge of welding was held in the highest regard all over the UK and abroad.
Throughout his life Ralph enjoyed good health until 2008 he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and then liver cancer. He tackled this with positive determination and never complained and when asked how he was he would always say 'I'm ok, I'm fine, it's working'.
When retired he took an active interest in supporting his wife in her role as councillor and was proud to be her consort when she twice became Mayor of Pembroke.
His other interests were Mencap's Gardens, he loved to visit Germany where his daughter lived and was proud of his two grandsons, Daniel and Lukas as well as Lennon and Jordon.

The service was held at Monkton Church, and was officiated by Rev Andrew Davies and the Chaplain from Mid and West Wales Fire Auth, Rev Protheroe, Cllr Huw George, Rev Andrew Davies.
A peom was read by Dionne (Ralph's daughter).

The mid and west Wales fire authority colour party formed an escort outside the church and Mr Kevin Jones Standard Bearer for the Royal British Legion led into the church.
Ralph was taken to church in a horse drawn carriage supplied by Mark Evans.

Mrs Francis May Benifer Milford Haven The death occurred at Rostley Care Home, Milford Haven of Mrs Frances May Benifer on August 7th at the age of 88. She was formerly of Coombes Drive, Milford Haven.
She was a native of Milford Haven and left school at 14 to work in the Braiding Room, on Milford Docks. She met her husband Jimmy during the war and was married in London where she lived for ten years before moving back to Milford where for most of their lives they lived in Coombs Drive.
She was predeceased by her husband Jimmy (James Robert) Benifer.
The family left to mourn were Margaret (daughter); Angela, Nigel, Mandy and Simon (granddaughters and husbands); Robert (grandson); Freda and Ruby (sisters); Bev, Megan, Jack, Toby, Jude, Ferdy and Atticus (great grandchildren) plus nieces and nephews.
The service was held at Parc Gwyn, Narberth and was officiated by Revd Martyn Evans.
The bearers were Robert Kingston, Nigel Morris, Simon Lewis and Derek Owens.

Mrs Gladys Davies Neyland Mrs Gladys Edna Davies of High Street, Neyland passed away at Withybush Hospital on August 2nd. She was 95.
Originally from Weymouth she moved to Neyland in 1944 and also residing in Hakin.
She married in 1994 and cared for seven children. She was mainly a housewife but during the war years she worked in the flax factory in Milford Haven.
Her interests were music, watching TV, music, playing whist, crosswords and puzzling books in later years and reading.
In her younger years she participated in amateur drama and trained in music theory and played piano.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas John Davies in 1995.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners were Carol and Philip (daughter and son-in-law); Hugh, Terry and Brian (sons); Keith and Ann (son and daughter-in-law); Wendy and Mark (daughter and partner); Tracey and Adrian, Sarah and Gordy (grandchildren and partners); David and Gemma (grandchildren); Tiffany and Timmy (great granddaughter and partner); Zabrina and Allan (great granddaughter and partner); Breeanna (great, great granddaughter); Phylis (sister); Joan (niece); Val and Brian (niece and nephew) and other family members to numerous to mention.
Gladys had a photograph taken two weeks ago showing the five generations of her family.
The service was held at the house then at St Clement's Church, Neyland followed by internment at Honeyborough Cemetery. It was officiated by Rev Alan Chadwick and the bearers were Hugh, Terry and Keith (sons), David (grandson).
There were family flowers only with donations to Ward 14 Withybush Hospital where she was cared for during her illness and was also supported when she was in the community.

Mrs Eilir Blethyn Whitland It is with great sadness we report the sudden death of Mrs. Eilir Blethyn, St. Davids Avenue, Whitland, who died peacefully on July 19th at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.
Eilir was born in 1930 and brought up at Llwyncelyn Farm, Llanfallteg, moving to Whitland when she got married. Her main enjoyment was her family and music. She taught piano lessons for over 40 years. Eilir was also one of the organists at Tabernacle Chapel, Whitland.
The funeral took place on Monday, July 25th, with a service at Tabernacle Chapel, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.
Officiating was the Rev. Gill Hayley-Harries, assisted by the Revs. Towyn Jones, Huw George, and Kingsley-Taylor. The organist was Mrs. Meinir Richards.
The bearers were Denzil Davies, Tony Hughes, Trefor Evans and George Bancroft.

Bryan William James Pembroke Dock Bryan was born in November 1931 at West Street, Orange Gardens, Pembroke, the son of Thomas Samuel James and Mabel Powell. In 1955 he married Delys Preece from Golden Hill, Pembroke at St Mary's Church, Pembroke and they spent 54 years of their married life living in Cross Park, Pembroke Dock where they raised their four children.
He started his schooling at East End boys School before going to the Coronation School in Pembroke Dock. On leaving school he did an apprenticeship in carpentry which then set him up for his working life as he was a carpenter and joiner until he retired in 1998.
He started his working life alongside his father repairing was damaged premises. Later he worked on the construction of the BP Ocean Terminal at Popton, the refurbishment of the Ocean Layer cable laying ship and then for Estate Services where he was contracted to the landowners of the various estates of Pembrokeshire to maintain properties belonging to them. A great deal of this work was on the Stackpole estate.
In the mid 1960's he began working for the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works, initially at Penally Camp, but then moving on to the School of Anti-Aircraft Artillery at Manorbier. When the Manorbier camp was closed, he transferred to Pembroke Dockyard Marine Salvage depot and finally to Royal Armoured Corps Ranges Castlemartin from where he retired with a long service medal.
Bryan was a gentle and thoughtful man who had a strong sense of community. He was always willing to help and support neighbours in time of need, and his kindness has been repaid many times over by the support and help the family has received from the Cross Park community in recent years.
Bryan had a great interest in historic aviation and he was an active member of the Pembroke Aviation Society. He was specifically interested in the Sunderland Flying Boats of Pembroke Dock and it is his family's wishes that any donations in lieu of flowers are made to the Sunderland Trust via Mr G Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock SA72 6UR.
He leaves his wife Delys to whom he was devoted and their four children Adrian, Ralph, Linzi and Daryl and their families. He also leaves his sister Glenys Headley and her husband Dennis as well as a large extended family.

Albert S Webb Hakin The funeral of Albert S Webb (Abbo), Picton Road, Hakin, Milford Haven took place on August 8th. He will be greatly missed by his partner Margaret, family and friends.
A cheerful, well-liked man Albert had many interests. Having retired from the Milford Haven Port Authority over 11 years ago, he enjoyed being a member of the Milford Haven Golf Club, also fishing off the beach and at Llysyfran Reservoir, gardening, growing vegetables, Chrysanthemums, tending his greenhouse, sport and having a bet.
The principal mourners were Margaret (partner); Billy and Betty (brother and sister-in-law); Betty and Ronnie (sister and brother-in-law); Raymond (brother-in-law); Jimmy, Maureen (cousin, unable to attend); Julie, Andrew, Ian, Alan, Catherine, Christine (nieces and nephews); David (uncle); Kath (aunt); David Bennett (betting/shopping buddy).
A large gathering of family, friends and neighbours attended the service at St Davids Church Hubberston, followed by internment at Thornton cemetery, which was officiated by Rev Bill Lewis.
Many beautiful floral tributes were laid at the graveside.
The eulogy was given by Ian Jenkins (friend) and the bearers were Milford Haven Port Authority colleagues Mike Arnold, Mike Burgoyne, Steve Doughty, Barry Gale, Ian Jenkins and Billy West.
Mr Reginald John Stanley Tasker (known as Stan Tasker) Herbrandston The death occurred on August 15th of Mr Reginald John Stanley Tasker (known as Stan Tasker), of Haven Park, Herbrandston, near Milford Haven.
He was 91.
Born in Haverfordwest and from Milford Haven, he started his apprenticeship at Merlins Bridge Engineering Company (1934) and finished it at Milford Docks (1939). He then joined the British Mercahnt Navy (New Zealand Shipping Company). In August 1939 as a marine engineer. He left the merchant navy in 1947 as a 2nd engineer and he returned to the docks to work until 1959 when he joined Esso at their refinery as a technician. He retired from Esso in 1981.
Stan survived the war in the Merchant Navy inspite of being torpedoed, bombed and mined several times. He was also 'mentioned in dispatches' for an act above and beyond the call of duty which ultimately led to his sadly damaged ship being saved.
He was a keen fisherman often taking his grandsons with him, he enjoyed gardening, sketching and painting, and was a keen advocate of the 'steam age' loving both marine steam engines and traction engines.
Stan was a loyal and staunch member of St Katherines Church for well over fifty years. He also served 18 years as a magistrate eventually becoming chairman of the local magistrates and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1981.
He was predeceased by Poppy EdwinaTasker (nee Fee) in 2007.

Mr L J Morgan Hakin, Milford Haven The funeral took place at Rehoboth Chapel, Hakin, Milford Haven of Llewelyn James Morgan. He was aged 76.
After a short stay at Withybush Hospital he died on August 16th.
Also known as Lyn, he was well known in Milford Haven as a hard working person who loved his wife and family.
