Mr Alan Maynard Booth Milford Haven Mr Alan Maynard Booth died at Withybush Hospital on August 28th. He was 71 and lived in Shakespeare Avenue, Milford Haven.
During his working life he was a school-master both in Britain and abroad. He spent two years in Kenya between 1966 and 1968, but spent the majority of his working life in St Martins Preparatory School, Northwood, Middlesex, where he retired from in 2005.
Alan gained a degree in English at Christchurch University, Oxford.
He was an avid reader and took enormous pleasure from that being known also as Alan the Book in the local area. He liked real ale almost as much as reading, and also riding his motor scooter.
He was divorced twice and is survived by his daughter Sophie. Sadly Alan's son Christopher died in August 2010. Because Alan thought of his two cats Dylan and Sherlock as 'the boys', maybe he is survived by them too. Alan's speaking voice was a thing of rare beauty. His voice resonated with a deep timbre, solemnity and humour as and where required.
Alan's last wishes were that he wanted to leave his body the medical science. This proved not to be possible sadly.
He had very pronounced views on religion and wished for no funeral service. His daughter and friends respected this and there was no service at his cremation. He shall be remembered for his life and not his death.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom newing and Sons Ltd, Milford Haven.
