As fuel prices rocket and concern about oil supplies grows, a Goodwick man could revolutionise the way Pembrokeshire's cars are powered.
Buzz Knapp-Fisher plans to run his 1970's Womble Truck using 70% water and 30% chip oil, and will trial a new system this month.
He hopes that each litre of water will provide energy for 900 miles.
Buzz said: "Energy is everywhere, so why use fossil fuels?
"It's an extremely interesting device. It's very exciting. I may finally have the system I wanted 22 years ago.
"You can run any car on it, but old diesels seem to be most suitable for conversion."
His unique convertible car is made out of several different cars which were destined for the scrap yard, including a Volvo, VW Beetle, MG, Capri, and a 1971 Mini.
The hydrogen system, which includes two jars, will be mainly fixed to the outside of the vehicle to promote interest in this alternative way of powering an engine.
The concept of powering vehicles using water power is thought to have been in existence for several years., Recently water power gained momentum in California, and there are now several websites promoting the system.
Water power is believed to improve the vehicle's performance, reduce emissions and be very efficient.
Buzz said: "People did seem frightened, which is not surprising when you consider the power of oil, and the greed and control of the big companies.
"But it looks as if the genie is out of the bottle now."
Buzz, who is a member of the not-for-profit organisation usenergy, hopes to run his car on water by the end of the month, and will share his experience with others.
