AT THE Holstein South Wales Club monthly show and sale at Carmarthen Mart, double top honours went to Robert and Diane Evans, of Derimoelion with Deri Topshot Diana.

By Woodmarsh Topshot and out of the 12,135kg Aliann Shottle Diana VG87, bidders at ringside were in agreement with judge for the day, Chris Thomas, of the Mountjoy Herd, Haverfordwest as she sold for the top price of £3150 to Gatrog Holsteins.

Reserve champion heifer came from Tregibby Holsteins and was also a super young heifer by End-Road Beacon and bred from three successive generations of dams classified excellent. Tregibby Rosina Beacon sold for £3000 to the Penyback Herd of R. T. Richards, Llandyfaelog.

Ten further heifers made more than £2000, the pick of those being Caer Design Flora 130 from Caerlleon Farms, Llanboidy fetching £2,600 to Penyback Holsteins and a second Deri heifer, Deri Capricious 18, which made £2,500 and was purchased by the judge, Chris Thomas.

The pedigree/recorded heifers averaged £2127, while the top commercial price was for a six gallon heifer from Phillips, Cilifan, Trelech at £2250.
