FARMERS will be able to learn more about arable crop trials on a west Wales farm at an open day next week.

Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers (CCF), with support from Agrovista, HGCA and ADAS, is staging an arable event at Dyffryn Farm near Cardigan on Monday, June 23rd, when Dr Jonathan Blake, a senior research scientist for ADAS will take farmers around trial plots and discuss the results in barley, wheat and oilseed rape. Information generated at Dyffryn Farm will go towards producing fungicide performance graphs that many people use when deciding on what fungicides to use.

Lyndon Harris, the acting agronomist at Dyffryn farm will discuss the inputs used there, giving farmers a good opportunity to see how such research is put into practice and how it performs.

Arable farmer and Agrovista precision farming consultant Chris Harry-Thomas will be discussing GPS soil mapping, variable rate fertiliser application and other precision farming methods.

The event, by permission of Mr and Mrs D. George, will run from 10am to 3pm, with lunch provided. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact CCF customer services on 01437 562400.
