A NEW competition is aiming to encourage dairy farmers to try Simmental bulls.
Each month, the Welsh Simmental Club will award a £20 bonus to the seller of the highest-priced Simmental-sired rearing calf at Carmarthen Mart.
The aim is to raise the profile of the breed in the region, and encourage dairy farmers to try a Simmental bull.
The competition starts in August and will run for a minimum of 12 months.
For more information, contact Huw Evans at Carmarthen Mart. To find out more about the Welsh Simmental Club, go to www.welshsimmentalclub.co.uk.
