The South Pembrokeshire organisers of the All Wales Ploughing Match, to be held locally in September, enjoyed a very rewarding fund raising event at The Plas Hyfryd, Narberth.

Auctioneers Nick Williams and Will Prichard drew some spirited bidding at the Promise Auction which raised almost £7,000.

On offer were items of clothing donated by local feed and machinery merchants, various Sunday lunches for two persons generously given, some decorative pictures and a variety of garden ornaments.

Specially made small wheelbarrows to hold garden flowers realised £90 each, a local welder offered to make a 12ft galvanised gate which sold for £170, Sunday lunches made up to £100 and half cwt bags of potatoes went for as much as £25.

One contractor offered 10 acres work with a combine harvester which realized £360, the pictures on offer attracted bids of up to £160 and a hand-crafted thumbstick was keenly contested and sold for £202.

The next fund raising event will be the appearance of The Wurzels in concert at Folly Farm on Saturday, September 5, with two thirds of the 600 tickets already sold,
