Students at the start of their farming career were recognised for their hard work and dedication at the County Show Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society Awards.

Scott Robinson of Parc y Bryn Farm, Llandissilio, won the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society Bursary Award, taking home a cheque of £1,000 to help him with his studies. Scott has been studying for an advanced agricultural diploma at Hatbury College as well as working at Pearson farm, St Brides.

Five candidates between the ages of 18 and 23 were interviewed for the bursary and the judges paid tribute to the quality of the entries.

"We did have five tremendous candidates," said senior judge Roy Davies, "We all know how difficult it is for youngsters to go through college. I would like to thank the society for giving £1,000, it is very helpful for those young people starting out on their career."

He left school at 16 and enrolled at Gelli Aur College where he has just completed his extended diploma. His particular interests are dairy beef and lamb production.
