THE North Pembrokeshire Farmers Club held its 158th annual show at Fronhaul fields, near Fishguard, with excellent entries from some of the top livestock breeders across South Wales.

Horse and pony entries numbered 250 with beef and dairy cattle at 150 together with 260 sheep being forward; 30 pigs were also on show.

The beef and dairy cattle entries were particularly impressive with Delyth Jones and Ifor Davies claiming supreme in the beef section with their two year old British Blue maiden heifer, Cromwell Indigo.

Others challenging strongly included the male champion, the five year old Longhorn bull Southfield Kodra from Robert Vaughan; Alma James with her home bred Royal Welsh winning Beef Shorthorn second calver, Lamboro Orymaid; Marian Phillips with Brysgaga Berwyn, her four year old Welsh Black bull; Terry and Dawn Griffiths with their calved heifer, the three year old Deri Hot Chocolate and George, Ionwy and Non Thorne with the May 2013 born polled Hereford in-calf heifer, Glenvale 1 Molly.

Heading the dairy entries were Philip and Stuart Williams with their Ayrshire second calver, Willhome Rinestone Bessie – champion Welsh bred dairy heifer at the Royal Welsh – and leading the Holsteins was the remarkable Carwyn May Day Deri carrying her ninth calf and owned by Goronwy and Andrew Griffiths.

There is no supreme horse championship at the North Pembrokeshire Show but making a strong impression were the Shire mare, the 11 year old bay Bodafon Rose Marie shown with her March born filly foal, Blaencillech Rhianna; Charlotte Owen with her ridden Hunter, the 7 year old bay Quantom of Solace and the winning Welsh pony shown under saddle, Maggie Simon with the dark chestnut Yrallt Maid 85.
