FUTURE Farmers of Wales founder, Dai Davies, of Haverfordwest, has been made Honorary Life President, in appreciation of his role as FFW president from its formation at the Royal Welsh Show in 1988 to his retirement at the agm in 2008.

He devoted many years to developing and nurturing the organisation, which has fostered talent and helped many notable farmers in Wales to further their careers.

Dai Ll Davies MBE, TD, FRAgS, DL, was presented with a framed certificate by FFW Chair, Pembrokeshire dairy farmer Joy Smith, to mark the honour at the Pembrokeshire County Show in Haverfordwest.

He told club members of his pride in the organisation’s achievements and its many study tours across Europe and beyond, particularly to Poland in the early days before they joined the EU.

Mr Davies stressed the importance of lobbying and of FFW’s regular meetings with Welsh Government officials. The club’s role was not to complain, but to express concern where appropriate and to offer alternatives - especially with the serious situation that the industry is facing at the present time.
