PEMBROKESHIRE YFC were the big winners as over 400 members travelled to the Royal Welsh Showground on April 1 to take part in the Wales YFC Festival of Public Speaking.

Following a full day of competing, the Carmarthenshire Federation were the overall winners of the Welsh language competitions and the Pembrokeshire Federation were the overall winners in the English language section.

It was a clean sweep for Pembrokeshire YFC in the English section, as they won the Reading section (14 & under), Junior Specking Section (16 & under), Intermediate Brainstrust Section (21 & under), and the Senior After Dinner Speaking Section (26 & under).

Katie Davies, Wales YFC’s competitions chairman, said: “It was a privilege to witness such a wealth of talent. Young people through the competitions on offer had the opportunity to develop their presentation and speaking skills, which will be of value to them throughout their lives. On behalf of the federation, I would like to extend my thanks to all judges, stewards, trainers and supporters who helped make the event a great success.”
