Fishguard YFC were crowned the champions of Pembrokeshire YFC recently, after a wait of 21 years.

The Pembrokeshire YFC AGM was recently held by kind invitation of Pembrokeshire County Council at the chamber in County Hall.

It has been a hugely successful 12 months for the county, with numerous successes at both Wales and national level from public speaking and entertainment to cookery and flower arranging, a highlight being Pembrokeshire winning the Wales YFC Eisteddfod.

At the AGM, Fishguard YFC were awarded the Championship Trophy, the first time since 1996. They also walked away with the MJ Williams Indoor Sports trophy and the Overall Sports Shield.

Llysyfran and Eglwyswrw shared the Welsh Championship shield, as Eglwyswrw celebrated further success as Elsie Broughton won the JP James trophy for the minute book, and Sian Medi Davies won the Ann Phillips-Davies trophy for the accounts book. Overall, Eglwyswrw won the Josiah George trophy for the best club records.

Winning the Wayne Mathias Memorial award was Owain Lewis from Llawhaden YFC, for his dedication to the movement.

The Bill Black trophy for the best attendance at county meetings and the largest increase in membership was awarded to Tiers Cross YFC. Tiers Cross were also celebrating as their very own past member Non Thorne became county chairman, as Alice James stood down following her successful year in office. Llysyfran's Katie Davies was elected county vice-chairman.

Becoming president elect was Richard 'H' Lewis, of Keyston YFC, with the six vice-presidents being Gaynor Hancock, Haydn Davies, Delme Harries, Eirlys Davies, Karen Jones and Dylan Williams.

In closing the meeting, president Alwyn Evans thanked all members, trainers, parents and supporters for their overwhelming support and dedication to the movement over the past 12 months.
