Lampeter Spring Stallion show maintained its position as one of the leading equestrian events as it attracted more than 400 entries.

This year's president, John Green of the Steffan Stud, doubling in his usual role as field director, was well pleased with the overall turn out on a glorious spring day. He expressed his appreciation to so many supporters, friends and officials for their continued support all of which went towards ensuring future success of the event.

Show committee chairman Gwyn Jones, of the Fronarth Stud, had good cause to be delighted for one of the family’s fine stallions, the 11-year-old bay Section D Fronarth Prince of Wales gained top honours being selected as the best Cob stallion on show and the winning exhibit at the show.

Bred and still owned by the Fronarth stud he was the leading Cob stallion at last year’s Royal Welsh Show.

Yet another of the Fronarth breeding, the winner under saddle was Mary Marshalsay’s nine-year-old bay gelding, Fronarth Grand Slam, splendidly ridden by Eleri-Wyn Jenkins and another regular local supporter, Owen Jones of the Nebo Stud took the youngstock award with his three-year-old Section C filly, Nebo Raquel.
