South Wales Holstein Young Breeders team had a successful weekend at the National Holstein UK weekend rally in Loughborough recently.

The team won the overall stockjudging competition for the second year running with Iwan Thomas winning the junior stockjudging and best reasons and William Griffiths winning the senior best reasons.

Iwan and Owain Thomas won the junior team in the linear competition and Arwel and Nia Thomas won the intermediate linear team.

The successful team consisted of Iwan and Nia Thomas, Arwel and Owain Thomas, Anwen Thomas William Griffiths, Owain Gibbin and Michael James.

The team draws its members from a wide area of Carmarthenshire – brother and sister Nia and Iwan Thomas are from Llandyfaelog; another brother and sister team Arwel and Owain Thomas live in St Clears, William Griffiths is from Blaengors farm St Clears, Owain Gibbin is from Whitland, Anwen. Thomas lives in Pontantwn and Michael James is from Nantgaredig.

Next year in August the South Wales club will be hosting this big event in Carmarthen where competitors will be travelling from all over the UK and Northern Ireland to compete.
