The Prince of Wales expressed his passion for the future of Welsh family farms during a meeting with NFU Cymru president Dai Davies last week.
NFU Cymru representatives met the Prince, along with others with interests in the Welsh Dairy sector, at his Carmarthenshire residence, Llwynywermod.
After the meeting, Mr Davies said: “The Prince of Wales clearly feels passionately about the future of Wales’ family farms and was concerned to hear the implications for the dairy sector in Wales following the demise of Dairy Farmers of Britain.
“We discussed at some length what might be done to mitigate the financial impact on these producers who would lose significant sums of money and capital invested in Dairy Farmers of Britain and whose business were, as a consequence, on the brink of collapse.
“We also discussed what could be done for the now relatively small number of producers in Wales who had still to find an alternative outlet for their milk suppliers.”
He added: “The Prince of Wales indicated that he would do anything he could to assist and asked to be kept informed of developments.”
After the meeting Mr Davies gave the Prince a copy of the NFU’s survival plan for the dairy industry.
