Pembrokeshire’s adopted Irishman, Brian McConnell, swept the board at the county’s nursery sheepdog trials presentation dinner.
Brian dominated the nursery season with his dog Joe and won both the puppy and nursery classes. He was also awarded the W. T. Davies Memorial Cup for the highest pointed dog.
In the south Wales nursery championship they were placed fifth overall, but were unable to compete at the All Wales Championship.
Special mention was made to John Bowen who ran Bell at the All Wales competition and completed the course, despite very testing sheep.
The awards were announced by secretary Stan Harden and the trophies were presented by long-standing Pembrokeshire sheepdog member, Bryn Rees.
Plaques and rosettes were also given to the county’s emerging young handlers Gabby Ridge and Rebecca Jameson.
At the end of the night a mini auction was held, with the money raised going towards the 2011 Welsh National being hosted by Pembrokeshire.
