A TRACTOR and engine club is gearing up to celebrate 40 vintage years.
Since its formation in January 1973, when 25 people met at the Farmers’ Arms in Narberth in response to an advert in a local newspaper, the South West Wales Vintage Tractor and Engine Club has gone from strength to strength and now boasts a membership of more than 100.
That includes five founding members John Hughes, Roy Harveson, Howard Lewis, David Reynolds and Dilwyn Phillips.
The club has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years, mostly from vintage shows and latterly road runs.
The club meets on the second Monday of each month at the Nantyffin Hotel, Llandissilio with a variety of speakers and film shows and they also visit museums and vintage machinery collections.
To celebrate the club’s 40th anniversary, a dinner with entertainment is being held on Saturday, January 26th at the Nantyffin Motel, Llandissilio. Anyone interested in attending can contact social secretary Dilwyn Phillips at Brooklyn, Simpson Cross, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA62 6EG or ring 01437 710428.
