S4C’s farming and countryside series Ffermio on Monday, 24 October will cover an event which is considered the highlight of the year for the dairy industry in Wales – the Wales Dairy Show.
Welsh dairy farmers enjoyed great success at the Dairy Event in Birmingham and will be hoping to emulate their achievements at this event.
The Show, which has been running for over twenty years and attracts thousands of visitors, was held this year on 18 October on the outskirts of Carmarthen in Nantyci.
There, the presenters interviewed the Show’s Chairperson, Lynn Davies, as well as competitors Simon and Siân Davies from Brynhyfryd Farm near Whitland.
This couple have had an extraordinarily successful year in competitions across the country. Presenter Alun Elidyr will meet their star cow Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina at home whilst Meinir Jones will review the competitions at the show.
Daloni Metcalfe will also discuss the price of milk, a hot topic among Welsh farmers. The presenter will meet Richard Davies from Dairy Co. the unions and milk companies, to discuss the industry’s current state and its future.
