A triple whammy of wins saw Eglwyswrw YFC talk their way to the top of Pembrokeshire’s Welsh language public speaking table.
Teams from Eglwyswrw won three out of the four sections during two busy nights of competition, propelling the club into first place overall, ahead of Llysyfran and Fishguard.
Eglwyswrw won the junior speaking competition, with Emily Lloyd named best proposer of the vote of thanks and Sara and Hannah Watkins winning best chairman and speaker respectively. Llysyfran were placed second, with Fishguard in third.
The team placings were repeated in the intermediate debating competition, when Eglwyswrw’s Arwel Evans won the best speaker award, while his sister Delun was named best chairman.
Eglwyswrw also took the honours in the senior brainstrust competition, with Robert Davies named best speaker. Fishguard were placed second, with Llysyfran third.
Llysyfran prevented an Eglwyswrw clean sweep by winning the junior reading competition, with Naomi Nicholas named best chairman and Sioned Thomas winning the best reader award. Eglwyswrw’s A team was placed second, with Hermon in third.
Teams will now be chosen to go on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Wales YFC public speaking finals.
