The many different elements that go into making the Pembrokeshire YFC county rally the highlight of the year will be on show again at the end of the month.
The rally is a day packed with competitions and this year’s themes of ‘the elements’ and ‘musicals’ are sure to provide plenty of entertainment throughout the day.
As well as traditional competitions such as cookery, floral art, craft and tug of war, members will be miming a scene from a musical or opera, performing tribal dances, going under the hammer for an ‘auctioneering’ task, building instruments and performing with recycled garden bands and battling it out in the ever popular ‘YFC Factor’ competition.
County organiser Dill Williams said: “The rally is our ‘shop window’ into showing people just how much YFC has to offer its members, whether it’s competing in one of the wide variety of competitions on the day, helping out during the weeks of preparation, or turning out to support their clubs and joining in the friendly rivalry.
“Club leaders, trainers and parents also put in a huge amount of work for the rally, which helps make it the highlight of the YFC calendar.”
One of the highlights of the day is the crowning of the county queen, and this year will have a special significance, as it is believed to be the first time that a member has followed in her mother’s footsteps and been selected for the role. Non Thorne, of Tiers Cross YFC, will emulate her mother Ionwy, who was queen in 1975 for Llysyfran.
Everyone is welcome at the rally, which takes place throughout the day at the County Showground, Withybush on Saturday, May 28th from 10am.
