Pembrokeshire produced washing machine a Reason to get excited

The Reason washing machine has been designed, tested, developed — and is due to be manufactured in Pembrokeshire
It could be the best washing machine ever produced; and it was designed, tested, developed — and is due to be manufactured — on your doorstep.
The Reason washing machine, which will be launched later this month, is efficient, green, easy to use and packs double the amount of washing a standard machine can handle into the same dimensions.
So it is easy to understand why managing director Andrew Reason, a trained architect who started working on the washing machine 12 years ago, is so excited about the future.
“We believe it is the best washing machine ever made.
“It will be hand-built and hand-tested in west Wales with a strong local team and with engineering support and expertise from around the world,” Mr Reason said.
“There is a massive amount of interest out there.
“We have a small team now but we think that within a year we will be employing hundreds.”
Log onto the company’s website, www.reason washingmachine.com, and the first thing you see is a video from the Withybush factory’s testing rooms where the team pit a conventional front loading machine against their own product.
In 20 seconds the Reason machine is loaded and ready while the standard machine takes a full minute.
The secret to the speed and simplicity of the Reason machine is its drawer-style pull out drum and the huge amount of technology which is packed inside.
With 22 patented new inventions and precision engineered components sourced from around the world, it weighs the laundry and automatically applies exactly the right amount of detergent, softener and water, meaning nothing is wasted.
“We’re really happy with the product and with the support we have had, especially from Pembrokeshire County Council,” added Mr Reason.
A council spokesman said: “This is a highly innovative project, which has taken a lot of hard work to come to fruition.
“We wish them all possible luck in their launch and bringing their product to the marketplace.”
