Haverfordwest County 6

Aberdare Town 0

Haverfordwest County’s young players defied the rain at the Conygar Bridge Meadow to slam in six goals.

Aberdare tried to play good football and although their keeper Grant Hopkins let in six, he also made several excellent saves.

The visitors might even have scored first but Bluebirds’ keeper Dan James atoned for a weak clearance with a great save.

The Bluebirds took the lead as a lovely Ben Steele cross from the left allowed Haworth to head home from eight yards.

A strong run by Carroll, where he shrugged off three would-be tacklers, saw him add the second, before Greg Walters rapped the woodwork with a header and Liam Davies was just wide with a volley.

Haverfordwest remained on top after the interval, but Steele missed a one-on-one and Davies put the ball too high in similar circumstances.

But goals were inevitable and a run by Walters set-up Steele to make it 3-0.

Davies missed another chance but finally got his name on the scoresheet as he coolly chipped the keeper. He added his second within minutes, sliding home from close range.

Sub James Trueman made it 6-0 with a neat finish.
