Pembrokeshire Harriers have once again made an impressive start to the athletics season.

November 4th saw a strong team of seven Harriers travel to Cardiff to compete in the annual Indoor Combined Event Championships, and three of the athletes managed to make the podium.

This competition was also the last time that Sarah and Dave Omoregie competed for the Harriers following their recent move to Cardiff, and both managed to win medals.

Sarah, who was competing against girls a year older, won a silver medal.

However, after a year out due to injury, Dave won four out of his five events to become the champion.

Dave will travel to Glasgow later this year to compete forWales.

Everyone at the Harriers would like to wish them the best for the future and both of them, and their families, will be sorely missed.

The Harriers also have reason to be proud of Amy Rothero, who became Indoor Combined Events champion.

Amy competed strongly throughout, but was especially impressive in the shot putt, throwing more than a metre further than any other competitor, allowing her to finish with a 12 point cushion over her nearest rival. To make it even more special, it was Amy’s first Welsh title.

Oliver Butterworth narrowly missed out on the chance to compete forWales by one position, but he and sister Chloe, who was competing in the combined events for the first time, excelled by achieving personal bests in several events.

Abi Buxton and Charlotte Phillips came seventh and eighth in their respective age groups, both also gaining personal bests.

A spokesman for the Harriers congratulated each athlete who competed and made it an excellent start to the season for the club.
