Pembrokeshire (204 for 8) beat Cardiff and the Vale (152-AO)
PEMBROKESHIRE under-12s impressively claimed the scalp of Cardiff and the Vale by 52 runs.
The visitors batted first, and lost their first wicket Harry Nicholas (4) as the score read 39-1.
Ollie Wheeler batted well at the top of the order, giving Pembrokeshire a good start with four fours in his 29. Pembrokeshire were 69 for 3 after 17 when Noah Davies joined Lloyd Bartlett at the crease. The run rate increased with both batsmen dispatching Cardiff's seam and spin bowlers to the boundary at regular intervals.
A terrific 110 run partnership between Noah and Lloyd came to an end when Noah was caught behind for 34 off 42 balls. His wicket fell in the 36th over with both batsmen trying to push on and reach a big total. Lloyd Bartlett fell soon after, being caught at square leg for a brilliantly made 63, which came off 77 balls and included eight fours. The visitors finished on 204 for 8 after 40 overs.
Spinner Nathan Coaker (3 for 25) helped peg Cardiff back. Cardiff's top three all got good starts, with all of them scoring above 20 with Ioan Lloyd top scoring with 31. The only other batsmen who reached double figures was Iestyn Fenn with 26no.
Pembrokeshire took wickets at regular intervals to halt Cardiff's chase with Ollie Wheeler (3 for 17) and Noah Davies (1 for 27) bowling really well. But it was left to Pembrokeshire's star man on the day to have the final say. Having already scored 63, and taking two catches, Lloyd Bartlett then starred with the ball. He took 2 for 14 in 6 overs and finished the game off in style, clean bowling the last batsmen to secure victory.
