HEINEKEN Cup fever returned to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday as the Scarlets welcomed Parisian outfit Racing Metro to West Wales in the second round of the European competition.
After a superb opening victory over English club Harlequins excitement reached fever pitch ahead of the first home game of the Heineken Cup season at Parc y Scarlets as the region celebrated Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion Day.
The celebration, now an annual event at Parc y Scarlets, gets the regional clubs of both Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion together for a day of celebration or grassroots rugby at the Parc.
A fantastic response was received once again with clubs from both counties coming along in their hundreds to Llanelli to enjoy a day of Heineken Cup rugby at Parc y Scarlets.
The Scarlets will ultimately be disappointed with the draw having held a 13 point lead late into the second half but it was a fantastic celebration of the region’s next generation nevertheless.
We’d like to say a big thank you to Haverfordwest, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Whitland, Aberaeon, Tenby and Crymych for making it an extra special day.
Thank you also goes to Milford Haven Town Band who entertained the crowd in the stadium pre match and at half time.
Scarlets will welcome ASM Clermont Auvergne to Parc y Scarlets in the fourth round of the Heineken Cup campaign on Saturday 14th December KO 3.40pm.
