IT was an emotional Peter Morgan who was deservedly awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sports Pembrokeshire 2013 Awards, held at Follies Theatre on Friday evening.

The former rugby star received a standing ovation from a capacity crowd after receiving the award from Geoff Williams, head of sport, BBC Cymru Wales, and a former journalist with the Western Telegraph.

Morgan played 274 times for Llanelli and scored 425 points in a career spanning over a decade. Morgan also played for Wales Youth, Wales B; the Barbarians and Wales and toured South Africa in 1980 with the British Lions.

“It was a shock and a privilege to receive this award,” said modest Morgan. “It’s been a fantastic night and the sporting talent from around the county never ceases to amaze me.”
