Gents

LAST Saturday, only 32 players turned up to play in the gent’s stableford competition.

It was either too much turkey or too much beer and wine over the Christmas period which kept the players away. The weather was dry which helped towards the very high scores returned on the day with Tony Potter winning with an excellent 45 points with second and third returning 42 points each.

Result

1, Tony Potter 45 points

2, Richard Hull 42 points winning on back nine score

3, Gwyn Scale 42 points

In the twos competition nine players had 11 twos between them; each two was worth £2.90 in pro shop credit to the following players. Shaun Dyson x 3, John Price, Adam Bayjoo, Matthew O’kell, Lyn Rees, Gwyn Scale, Peter Taylor, Michael Beavis and Chris Oliver.

Presentation was carried out by Captain John Price.

The winter league will recommence with round five to be played this Saturday; round Six on Saturday 11th; Monthly Medal will be played on Saturday 18th and round Seven of the winter league on Saturday, January 25.

Captain John signs out

LAST Saturday, was John Price’s last competition of his centenary captaincy year.

It has been an exceptional year for the club and a very busy and successful year for John; despite having an operation on a knee earlier in the year he has only missed two Saturdays presentation; one when he was in hospital and the second when he was playing away for the Tigers team.

John has been a very popular club captain with all sections of the club and has attended all the functions which the club held in 2013 along with his wife Dilys who has been his official chauffeur driver over the last 12 months and must have clocked up a lot of miles carrying out her duties.

John has stated a few times that he has enjoyed his year as captain and cannot thank the members of the club enough for all the support and help which he has received. John will now take over as the chairman of the executive committee for the next 12 months completing his three years duties with the club with the first year carrying out his vice captains duties. Best wishes to John for 2014 and may he enjoy his golf.

John will hand over the club captaincy to Gwyn Scale on New Year’s morning and would like to wish Gwyn all the best for 2014.
