Gents Section

LAST Saturday, the gents’ section played round six of the winter league in glorious dry and sunny weather; besides the winter league there was also a stableford competition for the non league players.

Club Captain Gwyn Scale in his short speech thanked Liam Eva and Steve Warlow for starting to check the cards with the new chairman of handicaps and competitions Dave Humphreys for finishing off the checking.

Gwyn thanked John Price for donating a dozen golf balls for the monthly medals; also Karen Pullin and Phil Davies for donating a bottle of wine each towards the weekly draw. Gwyn announced the scores and presented the prizes for both competitions.

It is getting close at the top of the winter league with only four points separating the top three pairs; the leading pairs in the winter league after round five are as follows;

In the Stableford competition for non winter league players thirteen players played the winners are as follows;

In the twos competition which was won by James Picton who had the only two in the stableford competition; the two was worth £13 in pro-shop credit;

January Monthly Medal sponsored by club professional Matthew Hearne will be played this Saturday and round seven of the winter league on Saturday 25.

Seniors

THERE were a few more seniors playing last Thursday for the stableford competition where 22 took part.

The course was still very wet in places with the greens in good condition considering the amount of rain that has fallen in the last four weeks,

The wet course did not affect the scores with some incredible scores being returned; especially by Mr consistent Rolly Council who came in with 43 points even though he was trying to protect his handicap by easing back on the back nine.

In the twos competition the kitty was shared by Tony Davey, Mike Durward and Bert Jones.

Next seniors’ competition will be a stableford and will be played on Thursday, January 16 with the first draw at 10.30 am; with further competitions for January on Thursday 16, 23and Friday 31 all with the first draw at 10.30am.

South West Pembs Golf Alliance

THE January meeting of the South West Pembs Golf Alliance will be held at South Pembs Golf Club on Thursday, January 30.

This competition is open to full male members of Haverfordwest; Milford Haven; St David’s City; Tenby Golf Clubs and the host club; for tee times please contact Mick Seal on 01646621453 or by email on www.southpembsgolfclub.co.uk

Milford Haven Golf Club will be hosting the February meeting which will be played on Thursday 27 with Haverfordwest Golf Club hosting the March meeting on Thursday 27.

After a recent meeting the golf alliance meetings 2014/2015; will be played on Fridays this hopefully this will encourage more players to play knowing that they have no work the following morning. More details to follow at a later time and this will also fall in line with some golfers who have every other Friday off.

ON Saturday, February 8 entertainment at the club has been arranged with the music provided by Mike Chant; further details will follow next week.
