TENBY caused a huge shock by hitting six goals past stunned Narberth to go marching into the West Wales Intermediate Cup quarter finals.

The turning point in this cup clash came shortly after half time when the visitors were already two nil adrift when Bluebirds’ goalkeeper John Durbridge was sent-off for destroying a goal scoring opportunity, and down to ten men Billy Vaughan made no mistake with the resulting penalty.

Matters got worse for the visitors when they also had defender Jamie Fleig sent off in the 75th minute when his clumsy challenge saw him receive a second yellow and the visitors finished the clash with nine-men.

Mike Lewis’ Tenby outfit grabbed two goals in the opening five minutes to stun the Bluebirds. Daryl Mansbridge shot from inside the box for the opener and minutes later his brother Jerome slotted home from six yards.

Tenby keeper Dan Escott pulled off two cracking saves to deny Narberth player boss Matthew Price and Morgan Preece as the hosts led two-nothing at half time.

Vaughan struck the third from the penalty spot as Durbridge took an early shower and Daryl Mansbridgle tucked home the fourth in the 65th minute.

Jerome Mansbridge added a fifth following a rebound, Fleig saw red, and substitute Jordan Richards fired home the sixth as the home side eased into the last eight of this prestigious competition.

This Saturday, Tenby entertain division two outfit Fishguard Sports in the Senior Cup quarter final, while league leaders Narberth travel to second from bottom St Ishmaels in a league encounter.
