Hakin United 1

West Dragons 1

NIALL Kinsella’s last-gasp equaliser earned West Dragons an unlikely draw at champions Hakin United in a Division One clash at the Obs.

The Vikings were marching back to the top of the table as leaders Narberth’s match at St Ishmaels was called off and if the hosts had won they would have gone top.

However, Byron Phillips’ Dragons had not read the script and they battled for a deserved point when all three looked lost.

Ewan Cunningham’s floated free kick in the box was not dealt with by the Vikings defence and Kinsella popped up to strike a right foot effort that flew in off James Manson’s near post to nick a point.

Vikings boss Gary Dawes was not happy as his team were leading one-nil then had a dubious goal ruled out for offside and also had a strong penalty shout ignored by referee Paul Rooney.

Ashley Bevan had given The Vikings the lead in the tenth minute, James Stanmore’s intelligent through ball left Bevan to comfortably despatch past Dan Birch.

But missed chances at both ends looked as though the champions would hold on for the victory, but Kinsella’s last ditch strike spoiled the champions’ afternoon.
