St Ishmaels 0
Goodwick Unite5
GOODWICK United stay a point clear at the top of division one after scoring five first half goals against rock bottom St Ishmaels.
Manager Steve Blackford said: “Delighted to win at Tish as it is never an easy place to get three points.
“Skipper Anthony Couzens was a rock at the heart of defence, Darren Devonald stood out in the holding midfield role. Paul Thomas impressed on his debut, huge credit to Aled Rees (broken toe) who played through the pain barrier to help out his team-mates.”
This was the visitors’ eleventh win of the season, but they have Narberth and last season’s champions Hakin United hot on their tales for the race of the title.
Rhys Dalling opened the scoring in the fourth minute, the striker hitting low shot in the far corner from the edge of the area.
Lewis Banks headed in the second from a dangerous Nigel Delaney free-kick in the box. Player boss Blackford added the third, amazingly scoring with his right foot from six yards.
Kieran O’Brien added a delightful fourth, nut megging a defender dancing past two defenders and curling in left footed from a tight angle.
Dalling added the fifth with a stunning 30-yard strike that flew in the top corner, not giving ‘keeper Jonathan Pawlett a chance of stopping.
Tish manager Marc Devonald said: “No complaints. This game was over as a contest by half time, but we played better in the second period and didn’t concede any further goals.”
