Gents

LAST Saturday, the gents section played their March monthly medal which was a qualifier for points for the Brian Bebb Shield. The monthly medal was sponsored by Debbie Forrest of Happy Day Child Care.

The competition was played for by 76 players on a dry cold day; the competition was a non-qualifier for handicaps because the greens had been hollowed cored the previous weekend.

The winner of the monthly medal was Wayne Warlow with a nett 66 which gave him ten Brian Bebb points.

This Saturday, will be the match between the Captain’s team and the Vice Captain’s team for the Navy Shield.

On Saturday, April 3, the rearranged February Monthly Medal will be played which will also be a qualifier for points for the Brian Bebb Shield. The monthly medal will be sponsored by Alex Youds.

Annual Knock out Cups

MEMBERS should note that entries are now being taken for the Match Play; Llewellin; James Williams; Cleddau Insurance and the Peggy Darlington in the annual knock-out cups; entrance fee is £1 per person payable on entry (see notices on various notice boards throughout the club). Closing date will be Sunday, April 13.

Ladies

LAST Tuesday, f14ladies played in their weekly stableford competition with the weather slightly windy but mainly dry and sunny.

Veronica John won her first competition of the year that took the prize followed closely by Cheryl Eva in runners-up spot.

The twos competition the kitty was shared by Veronica John and last year’s captain Karen Pullen.

In the Daily Mail Foursomes Liz Durward and Barbara Phillips go in to the hat for the next round as their opponents from St David’s City Golf Club had to withdraw because of personal reasons.

Last Sunday, on a sunny but blustery day; 12 ladies played in the Coronations Foursomes competition. The winners were Jackie Skelhorn and Keri Broome, who will now go into the draw for the next round of the competition.

This weekend will be a busy time for the ladies with the Lady Captain’s team versus The Lady vice –Captain’s team playing against each other on Saturday, with a tee off time of 12.30 pm.

On Sunday, the Ladies play their first Rookery Nook medal competition of the season with a starting time of 1pm.

Presentation for both competitions was carried out by Ladies Captain Pat Evans.

Seniors

LAST Thursday, the seniors’ competition was started but called off after six holes because of heavy rain and wind, but four of the starters finished the 18 holes; they were soaked but you must congratulate Gerald Charles, Keith Fletcher, John Sanderson and Rolly Council for their perseverance.

Senior members are reminded that the closing date for this year’s individual and pair’s knockout cups will be Sunday, April 13.

Today (Thursday) the seniors will travel to Haverfordwest Golf Club for their first away match of the season and tee off at 12.30 pm.

On Thursday, April 3, the seniors’ stableford competition will be the first qualifier for points for the Colin Reynolds Salvers; first draw at 10.30am. The following week the stableford competition will be held on Tuesday, April 8, with the first draw on after the ladies’ competition at 11.15am. The seniors will be traveling to St David’s City Golf Club on Thursday, April 10 to play their annual friendly match - teeing off at 12.30pm.

The list is on the board for the seniors’ first home friendly match of the season against Trefloyne Golf Club has been rearranged for Tuesday, April 15.

New Club Manager

THE executive committee are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Constance as the club’s new manager. He has recently moved from the Hereford area, has a wealth of experience in catering and hotel management; and will be responsible for the day to day running and promotion of the club.

Hollow Coring

THE chairman of greens Lyndon Brown would like to thank the following members of the club for the help which they gave over a weekend in the hollow coring and sanding of the greens at the club. Gwyn Scale, David Humphreys, Jake Lewis, Peter Taylor, John Clarke, Mike Durward, Steve Brown and also the greens staff consisting of Kevin, Stephan, Edward and Grant for all their work.

Junior Coaching

JUNIOR coaching will recommence on Monday, April 7 from 5- 6pm under PGA coach Elliot Harding. The cost for each session will be £3 per person.

Hole-in-one

CONGRATULATIONS to Milford member Karl Rhead who recently hit his first hole-in-one at South Pembs Golf Course on the par three 6th hole.
