Welsh League Division One

Pontardawe 1

Haverfordwest County 1

AFTER having the better of most of the game, the Blues were bitterly disappointed to lose two points to an injury-time equaliser.

The first half was a fairly tight affair, with the Bluebirds having rather more of the chances. They came closest when Sam Rodon sent in a powerful header which the keeper saved rather fortuitously.

The visitors went ahead with a fine goal which was created by their three subs. Ben Steele, making a welcome return, slipped a ball out to Luke Borelli, who made headway down the wing before crossing to the far post for Jack Britton to head in.

But deep in injury time the home side played a lob into the Bluebirds box and, after a real melee, Craig Davies drove in for the equaliser.

The Blues stay at the top, but will be very aware now of Monmouth Town, 3-0 winners on Saturday, creeping up on them with games in hand. The sides meet in Monmouth tonight (Wednesday).

Haverfordwest County: Craig Morris, Ricky Watts, Antonio Facciuto, Sam Rodon, Dale Griffiths, Dylan Blain, Chris O’Sullivan, Declan Carroll, Steffan Williams, Joe Leahy, Richie Lewis. Subs (all used): Luke Borelli, Ben Steele, Jack Britton.
